Wedding Dress Prices?

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies-

I tried on lots of designer sample gowns and found most of them to be tagged a size 10. Depending on the designer, that equates to somewhere between a 4 and an 8 in real sizes. Vera's were the smallest (size 8 samples equated to a real size 4). I am a very predictable size 4 in everything and most of the sample dresses were one size too big. Also, they are made for people who are at least 5'10 so they were longer in all areas (straps, torso, length). For some reason the non-designer gowns were always a size or two larger off the rack.

Hope that helps you narrow down your search!

I squeaked in >300 pinkie.gif

I paid $299.25 for mine.

I was quoted $1200 at a certain Bridal Salon big in this area that rhymes with Mouse of Hides. They wouldn't tell me the designer, but little did they know that my PT job is an internet PI.mwahhhhhaahahaaaa

Found the dress through one site for ~320ish and faxed that quote to RK Bridal, they gave me an additional 5% off with no tax/shipping.

I was one happy bride.gif

Ah yes, I've done my fair share of stalking Playa Fiesta brides. I even managed to lure a Chicago one out for drinks!!!!!

I voted for $601-$1000. My dress was originally quoted just over $1000 before taxes at local bridal shops. With other Knotties' help, I was able to find the lowest price online from Lee Philip Bridal. I then took that quote to Chrissy O Bridal in NJ and she beat it by 6%. The final price was $652 plus $20 shipping. Since the dress has a corset back and I ordered Petite size, I am hoping that I don't need to do any alteration at all!

I voted for 1000-2000, but I was only counting my actual wedding day dress. If I count my AHR dress it's $2001+.

I originally thought I'd spend $200 tops, but when I started trying on dresses I liked the more traditional ones (strapless, a-line, etc.) and I really liked all the shantung silk dresses I tried. Soooo, I did find one dress that fit the bill for $650 at a really small bridal shop in Austin, but then I tried on this two piece Romona Keveza dress during a trunk show and it made me cry so that was it.

I think the Romona dress was about $1700, I got a 10% discount for the trunk show and they custom made the dress into one piece for me at no extra charge. I also got a good discount on my second dress which I ordered from the same place so total for both with tax, veil and pearl headband it as $3300. I'm paying about $700 more for alterations on both dresses.

It's a lot more than I thought I'd spend or want to spend and frankly if my mom hadn't insisted on paying for it I wouldn't have done it, but every time I do a fitting I just get dreamy. I love that dress.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
