ME by Melia Cancun Resort

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what everyone's opinion is on the ME Cancun resort. I love it and have looked at the reviews on Trip Advisor however wanted a wedding opinion. Anyone else look into this resort for a DW? I am also finding it hard to contact the resort from their website. Anyone else find this?

Hi! We are looking into a wedding here as well....narrowed down to there or Le Blanc. I like something with a more modern, glam feel. We spoke with someone at ME for the first time today and I found her helpful although we only asked a few questions. Prices seem a bit cheaper than Le Blanc although the pass for guests staying outside the hotel is about the same and both are pricey. Le Blanc is $91 for guests staying at other palace resorts and $146 for non-guests at other hotels....there is a limit on how many passes and they are not day passes but only from an hour before until after the reception. ME requires you book at least 10 rooms, and for non-guests it is $119 or $134 for non-hotel guests to attend your event (the price depends which package you choose).

Will keep you posted on what we find if you like!

So I actually just returned from cancun on Wednesday and I was staying right next door to Me by Melia and decide to walk in and get some information and possibly look at their option since I was THERE very much eager to find a wedding location. I was in cancun for 5 days and went there the first day I was there. I informed the front desk what i was looking for. Then they had me speak to another person who then handed me a buisness card and told me to call the WC directly because she was not in and set something up directly with her. Ok understandable, I had no appt. but it did serm odd that their is no WC on a Wednesday at 2 but ok fine. Secondly they could not take the time to even show me around the hotel to see if it would be the right fit for my family and friends. As I left I call WC left a message informing them I was from out of town visiting cancun scotting location for my wedding that I was staying next door and availble at anytime within my stay and was really intrested. Needless to say after 3 attempted calls, 3 messages 0 returned calls and walking in and having zero help this was not the place for me.

We both e-mailed and called. The woman we spoke with was helpful and the same afternoon sent us a list of preferred vendors along with some other info...the vendors all looked very good. I did however read another review on here from a bride that did a site visit last year and had some pretty horrible things to say, some of which were about the hotel itself (like paper thin walls that let in all the elevator and night club noise, as well as being SO thin that you can hear people showering in rooms next to you and from the hall). I have heard that it is hard to get in contact with the WC so I will also say that, while the woman we spoke with (at a loss for her name) was kind, prompt, and helpful, she also said over the phone that she was NOT the WC but that she had a majority of the information we needed so she could help us with our questions in the absence of the WC. This is good to know in the sense there are other people there who can and will help, but also makes sense to what I've seen other brides say which is that the actual WCs are hard to get in touch with. On the threads I have seen several brides say 3 days to a week for each response.

Thank you all for your responces. I am possibly going to go to Cancun area this winter to do some site visits are multiple resorts. I am finding it so tricky to choose a resort that fits all the criteria - especially price budget for the guests. Thank you all again and if you have any more advice or suggestions I would love to hear about them!

One of the things we were very worried about is affordability for our guests....we are going with a knowledgable travel agent (Wright Travel Agency...hoping we get to work with Wendy as I have heard great things about her) in order that 1.) We can still get any deals or additional amenities that we would if everyone booked directly through the hotel and 2.) Guests can pay over time instead of one shocking lump sum which should be easier on everyones pocket books and make all our invited guests more likely to attend. One tip....check the prices booking directly through your hotel's site along with checking the discount sites....I found that for Le Blanc booking air and room through their site was significantly less expensive than cheapcarribean.com.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
