Anybody else want to kill their alterations person during this process? I took my dress in September 6th as requested by the lady doing my alterations (Cleaner/Tailor). She said to call her on the 24th to confirm it's ok to come back on the 26th.. That would be three weeks. All she did on the 6th was mark my dress for hemming (double layer because it's Organza). We also pinned a possible bustle and we were going to finalize on my next visit & possibly take it in.

It has beads on top and would need to remove zipper, remove some beads, and then rebead after taking it in.

I call on the 24th and she says this week isn't good how about next week. So I made an appointment for today at 6:00 and two of my bridesmaids are joining me.

I got a call from her around 1:00 saying she wasn't ready and how about I come in tomorrow. I told her we were coming in tonight because my girlfriends had to make arrangements with their kids to even make it there. She said ok but just so I'm not disappointed when I see it isn't done..I have to be ok with that.

I don't think she's started on it and she's had 4 weeks!!!! Not only that but if she has to do all the rest of the stuff, I only have 2.5 weeks before I leave for Cabo.

Now what!? Our meeting should be interesting tonight. I told her I was really worried and of course she said to not worry and it will be fine.

I told myself I didn't want to be one of those brides that had to run around last minute to go get my dress, etc. I'm going to have enough to do. (Like our Legal marriage is the day before we leave!)

I'm so sorry, but thats bullshit!! I'd be pissed!

I went in two weeks ago to try my dress, she did all of the pinning and I went back tonight to try it on, its 99% perfect, she had one little thing she wanted to fix on the bustle, I'm picking it up next friday after they steam it.

I can't believe your woman hadn't even started it! I would lose it on her, its almost showtime!

Angela, that sucks. I would be ultra pissed. Doesn't she know she's dealing with a bride? A bride that needs her dress to be PERFECT. A bride who is leaving to get married in 3 weeks! ACK!

My seamstress was awesome. I was a little skeptical when she said to come in a month before we left. But, she did an excellent job. We did 3 fittings. I actually left it at her place until the day we left so I didn't have to hide it.

Kick her in the ass!

HA! She must have feared my bridezillaness because my dress was ready at 6:00 when I got there! She just has to move a hook over and clean it.. it will be ready next Wednesday or so...

Geesh.. why do people feel the need to stress me out.

Just goes to show she didn't need very much time to do the work!

I was going to tell you not to worry because if she knows what she is doing she will not need much time at all. I dropped my dress off with my Seamstress like a month ago and I called her 1 week before my appt and asked her if she started working on it yet cause I changed my shoes. She said no, so I went in with the new shoes and she fixed the spot for the hem. When I went in a week later it was all done. So, its not a big deal, if they are good, they don't need much time at all and can usually guess how long it will take them.

With all that said, you found that out on your own. lol Glad to hear it worked out for you. That is very exciting. BUT, WHERE ARE THE PICShuh.gif

Now I fully realized that my great grandmother's necklace is not going to work with my dress. I know that's terrible but here's my compromise. I'm going to wear it to our courthouse ceremony. I'm going to create a small bag from the leftover organza on my gown and put the necklace into it and either pin it inside my dress or onto my bouquet. I was going to have a photo of my late grandpa on my bouquet so I might do it inside my dress, then give it to my grandma the next morning. I'm sad because I even had earrings made using the gold and pearl and I really hope grandma isn't offended.. her mom wore it on her wedding day, grandma wore it and so did my aunt (dad's sister). I felt so excited when she asked me to wear it.

I think I decided, no necklace, semi-dangle earrings (because I usually only wear studs) and a bracelet... man now I have to jewelry shopping again! lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
