I'M WORRIED NO ONE WILL COME TO MY DESTINATION WEDDING!

Recommended Posts

for what it's worth, my wedding is in about 4.5 months, and i just booked my OWN room and flight this weekend. i think only 2 other people have booked. i definitely don't think youneed to be concerned that no one will come just because they haven't booked 7 months in advance!

I was the exact same way with my wedding. We only had 15 others that came (that included my 3 little nephews) and even that was a struggle to get them to come! My family was not very supportive of our destination wedding and basically complained about it the whole time. I had one friend come and my husband didn't have any friends come! It sucked that no one would make the trip considering my husband has traveled several times for other people. My parents made us have a reception back home and a lot of people used that as an excuse to not come to Mexico (which I wasn't happy about!) In the end, I know that it was exactly what I wanted and I don't regret it at all. You will have a great time and a beautiful wedding whether you have 100 people there or just 2 people there! :)

Yeah your right! I'm kind of a control freak and I kind of freaked out when people didn't book right when I did. I'm just hopeing for the best and whoever comes will be lucky to celebrate the day with us and be on vacation

I agree! This is exactly why we are not having a reception back at home. I want to stress to people that we are only celebrating our marriage at our destination wedding. But as long as it's me and him everything will be fine

We are also not having an at home reception so this is the only time to celebrate with us, and after lots of thinking about it we were ok with it if not many people showed up. I say keep your chin up and people will eventually book, and in the mean time if you need to vent come on here and do it with us :o)

Agree w/ FireyNurs! As long as you and your immediate family who will be booking soon will be there, that's all that matters. Celebrate the two of you! msnparty.gif

I agree with the sentiment to remember that this is a special celebration for the two of you.  If your loved ones are there to celebrate with you, great! It's icing on the cake.  We're also not doing an AHR, since neither of us lives near our hometowns and none of our friends live in either of those respective towns either, did not even come across our minds.

Yes! This is what I wanted but I had to please my parents and have a reception back home. That is the only thing I would change about my wedding! :)

Funny, cause that was my compromise w/ my mother as well. To have a reception back home for folks who won't be able to make it out.

It's funny that it is your wedding but yet you have to make compromises! haha whoever said weddings were about the bride and groom were wrong! :)

Our wedding is this January. We found a great group deal, and our guests' deposits were due end of July. Most people waited until the last minute to put down the money, and we still have a handful of people who are still on the fence about going for various reasons. Including ourselves, we have 19 right now. My travel agent is trying to help us out by holding onto a couple of spaces as long as she can.

Most of our guests are my fiance's mom's side of the family, plus his siblings and our parents and my bridesmaids. Besides my parents, none of my family are able to go, which is a bit of a bummer. But like others have said, the only important people are you and your fiance - everyone else is a bonus.

We're also planning a small AHR for early next summer.

Truly, don't panic about lack of deposits - it will work out! And don't worry if at times you feel like you're losing your mind or making the wrong decision. It's normal for every bride, and as long as you're doing what you truly want, then it will all work out and you'll have an amazing time :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
