Hi everyone,

I am getting married at Dreams Tulum, and am new to this Forum!  My wedding date is April 10, 2014, and am now turning my attention to details: place cards, party favours, menus, ceremony.  Im finding it hard to do all this from a distance.  Any tips??

Also, has anyone found good customized maracas (potential party favour) or a good agency to plan a one day excursion with?

Hello fellow Canadian brides! Congrats on your upcoming weddings, and hope your planning is going well! This post is for any brides getting married in the Mayan Riviera, Mexico...

I'm a newlywed from Vancouver, Canada that lives down here in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. I have quite a few decor items leftover from our wedding in May, mostly in a rustic vintage style. I've decided to rent things out to brides that don't want to lug things like vases & mason jars down here to Mexico, and have priced things quite fairly compared to the resorts' prices. I have a lots of different types of bottles, mason jars, vases and lanterns, as well as a variety of other items like wooden signs & frames, table runners, rustic birdcages, string lighting and even a portable sound system.

If you want a Style Me Pretty or Ruffled type of wedding in Mexico without a huge price tag, I'm your gal! I'm also always interested in buying items that brides bring down and would like to sell after their weddings.

If you'd like to see some photos and a price list, please send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you all the info. Also if anyone has any questions about the area, ask away! I've lived in Playa Del Carmen for two years and know the area quite well. Happy planning ladies!

Here's a couple of photos of some items we used in our wedding and that are for rent:

Hey peeps! Question about timing for reception - we are getting married at the grand sunset on march 8th :) YIPEEE! In planning the wedding programs and inputing the "agenda" for the reception, I am wondering what you guys think about order of events. Wedding is at 4, with pics to be done around 440 before sunset hits too much lol. We have the CHILLOUT LOUNGE at the GSP from 6-10, and my wedding coordinator suggested the following order of events - wecome cocktails, speeches, dinner, cake etc... I am guessing that between the wedding and reception people will definitely go for snack seeing as food is at their disposal whenever they want!!! If we start at 6, do speeches from 630 to 7 or so, then eat, does that seem ok? Thanks ladies!

Hello Fellow Canadian Brides,

I am getting married at the moon palace in November 2014. I am Wondering if anyone has found any vendors or shops that can deliver sparklers to the Cancun area? My resort will accept packages and hold them for our wedding but I haven't yet found anyone who delivers to Mexico, and of course they can't be brought on the airplane

Hey Hayley,

My wedding planner (an external one, not from my hotel in Tulum) found some for me from a vendorm but she quoted a whopping $4 per sparkler! Insanity. They were the big long ones, but still. I ended up only getting 10 from her for some photos for when the sun went down. The planners left them out all day and night, and my husband, our two photographers, a few friends, and myself spent about 20 minutes in a hot, non-windy corner trying to get them lit. The humidity ruined them from being left out all day, and they were totally useless. No sparkler photos, just heat stroke from being in that corner for so long trying to light them.

I live down here and can try and find some for you (for less than $4 a sparkler, of course), as I've been told they only sell them during Christmas and New Year's down here. I looked at every market and store from Feburary to May, and couldn't find them anywhere. I would have to make sure they are kept in an airtight container with dehumidflying flakes, and then you'd have to only take them out when you need them on your wedding night. Would you be interested in doing that?

Let me know! - Katy

No worries! I may buy some anyhow, since I've started renting the decor we used for our wedding out to brides, and there may be some other girls interested in them. I posted about the items I have for rent a couple of posts up, if there's any things you want for your reception decor but don't want to lug down here. I know you're still a year out, but browsing never hurt! :D

Hayley,

I am getting married at moon palace as well in January 2014. I have been looking as well and haven't found any vendor that delivers the sparklers to the resort. If you do find a vendor please PM me.

Thanks Happy planning :).

Just got engaged a month and a half ago, and we are planning a wedding for December 2014 in the Mayan.  I have narrowed it down to 2 resorts: Iberostar Tucan and the Grand Sunset Princess...how on earth did everyone decide on which hotel to go with? I am feeling so overwhelmed right now!!

Any planning tips or advice would be greatly appreciated, as I am feeling rather clueless right now! THANKS!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
