Sounds like you've had the biggest weight taken off your shoulders - Im sure picking the resort is the hardest part and its all downhill from there. Congrats! Enjoy Tulum :)

hi all! i'm near toronto in ontario and am also looking at getting married in 2014 but in october.  my aunt is worried that it is peak season for hurricains there, but the reviews i've read seem to say it's okay end of october to november, thoughts anyone?? after reading everyone's reviews on here and getting some suggestions from my TA, i think i have my heart set on the Barcelo Maya Colonial or Tropical.  it's family friendly and there's lots to do on the resort and even includes a great kids pool.

currently i'm looking at invitations and save the dates as well as vendors in the area. i'm glad someone started this thread and congratulations to all 2014 brides!!

I've stayed at Barcelo's before and have always been happy with their facilities & service. The Barcelo Maya seems to be accomodating for many different needs (luxury vs. value, small resorts vs. large complex where guests have the option to explore)

As for the weather, I found this on a website for a photographer that we're considering:

SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, NOVEMBER

In September and October the ocean water is hot from the summer heat. The outside temperature drops making daytime temps hot but bearable. Evenings are beautiful and you can still swim at night and be comfortable. This is also hurricane season along the Atlantic coast. Hurricanes or tropical storms can occur anytime between June and December, however the common period is September - November. It is advisable to pay close attention to weather reports during these months.

That being said, pricing is usually cheaper this time of year - and you may get perfect weather!

Good luck!

Hi Ladies,

Congratulations to you all! We are also planning for Jamaica October 2014. We're currently looking at The Jewel Dunn's River or possible Couples Swept Away.

rivieramaya2014 - We've been to the Caribbean on vacation twice in October and both times we had gorgeous weather.

Happy Planning everyone!

Hi ladies! I am back on after a bit of a break from thinking about the wedding. After doing more research on wedding packages offered by different resorts in the Mayan, we have chosen the Grand Bahia Principe Akumal. We are just waiting for 1 more quote on a group rate and then we will confirm our booking and get a date from the resort for our wedding. I am finding this process confusing and just want to know the date we are aiming for. All I know at this point is it will be sometime in the first week of February 2014. I am looking forward to getting this part of the process done so I can focus on other things. I look forward to following everyone's posts and journeys toward the big day.

Barcelo Costa Cancun (in Cancun) and Barcelo Bavaro in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Haven't stayed at the Mayan Riviera locations - but this seems to be a popular choice. Perhaps reading the threads for those resorts can help you make a decision as you'll hear if brides are having any problems in particular (or what is going well). Seeing pictures also helps visualize what your ceremony will look like.

Hi ladies,

I live in Toronto and planning on getting married May 2014 in Mexico. So far it looks like the Barcelo Maya Palace is our top choice. I'm glad I found this site, I've already found a lot of very useful information.

Congrats to all the Canadian Brides out there and good luck planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
