Hey,

I am from Calgary and looking at getting married down in Mexico in the Mayan for early January 2014. We are looking at the Dreams Riviera Cancun as of right now and speaking with our destination wedding planner this evening. I am fairly new to this site but any questions I have had this site has helped lots. Excited to plan with you ladies!

Hi,

I'm also having my wedding in 2014 (just barely!) .. January 3, 2014 in the Mayan Riviera at Grand Palladium. Also looking forward to hearing from you girls what you have been planning so far. Lately I've been looking at the forums on here for helpful tips and reminders. The one thing I find stressful is that we have given out our save the dates & given people as much info as we can and recommended if they're wanting to come to book ASAP - we still have many people who are not in a rush to book. The only problem is that we went through a travel agent and they could only guarantee us the quoted price for 3 months and said now that the prices could go up at any time. Anyone else going through something like this? I don't want to keep hassling people to remind them to put their deposits down to save them $$. So far we have 32 booked and another 16 who have said theyre wanting to come but havent put deposits down yet. It makes it hard to try and figure out how much the wedding will cost us since we have to pay $40-60 per person for our dinner.

I know how you feel!  we have 23 booked, and another 20-25 who are booking later on.  though they do still have another month or so to put down their deposit, some have stated theyre booking on their own.  it makes it difficult though, because anyone looking for 'last minute deals' might put a kink in our plans, depending what date we have to confirm our numbers with the resort... yikes!

No, our wedding travel agent should be getting back to us this week. I am sending out the save the dates on Thursday and then we will pick a resort. I am so excited to get planning as I have been swamped with school so it will be a change. What day are you getting married? We have a friends wedding in May in tulum so we are going to check out our resort then!

I am going to get married in 2014. When we went to see a travel agent she said we have to wait till march to get the prices for 2014! How did you all get the pricing?

We still haven't chosen a place to go yet.

Hi Heather, we have had the same issue. Some TA's refuse to even request quotes until they know the 2014 pricing is available. My TA has found some 2014 pricing that is already out (Air Transat) and we got a good group quote for Ocean Turquesa April 20-27 2014.  We can already tell she will work hard for us because she at least checks and asks around! Let me know if you want her info.

Ive also noticed that some resorts have updated their websites with 2014 wedding package pricing. This is great because for us the wedding package costs can be dealbreakers!

My TA was able to get pricing from sunwing, sunquest, signature, and transat way back in november and december.  They werent able to confirm the actual departure date until last week, but we knew it would either be saturday or sunday, so we booked anyway.  she is awesome!  my friend at worked used her to book her wedding, after 'firing' her first 3 travel agents because they werent very helpful!  anyone interested in her contact info, PM me.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
