Shipping direct to your hotel

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

I am just wondering if anyone has or is planning to ship some of their items (favours etc) ahead of travel direct to the hotel in order to avoid having to haul it with you onto the plane? Is this something that we should plan to do or should I be weary of the items making it to the hotel?

Can anyone give me insight on this?

thanks!

From what I understand shipping it down to the resort carries some risk. From what I have heard if you have items made in china they will be taxed and they are hefty fees, and I think it is expensive to actually ship them to begin with. One bride I was reading have to pay to ship the boxes back to her house which was $216, but the taxes were like 1000 or something crazy. We are checking lots of bags!

Woah! I never thought of that, but I should have considering sometimes I get hit with crazy duty fees at my door when I order items online that are manufactured in China. (SO annoying) I think I'll inquire to see how much an extra bag will be... Just such a pain because it will be empty on the way home - what do you do about that?

agreed.  Check a lot of bags as it will be cheaper and less headache. Just enlist family members/friends to help out!

You could always stuff the biggest empty suitcase with smaller ones.  I agree that it's annoying, but I suppose it's better than getting caught off guard with a bunch of taxes and fees!

One of the BDW brides had posted that she had bought large hard plastic totes from Walmart on clearance and wrapped them with packing tape and the airline didn't even charge her for them!! And then she just left them at resort since they were so cheap she didn't even bother bringing them home.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
