Recommended Posts

I should add that are luggage was pulled aside with the red light and inspected in Cancun it was a pain but in the end we explained we were getting married in Tulum and we paid a $20 tax fee because we had brought more then $300 worth of stuff into Mexico.

Did you have anything break? What did you do with all that stuff on the way back?

Isn't it $300 per person? so you can bring in $600? (hoping!) :)

Love it!! Do you have a review of your wedding yet. I'd love to see what was in your OOT bags. Congrats and thanks for all the advice!

Yikes. I don't remember....but for some reason I want to say it was $200 total when we got married (2011). Maybe they have changed it to $300 total? Just remember to bring your receipts and explain it's gifts for your guests.

It is tricky packing all of your stuff down to your destination but its no impossible!

I used bubble wrap and tissue paper to wrap the breakables and did my best to strategically pack everything and all of our stuff made it to Mexico without any breakage.

So did you put  your breakables in checked luggage or put it in carry ons? We have vases and champagne flutes to take down but I wasn't sure that even bubble wrapped and tissued that they would be ok in checked luggage.

Cheers!

Ladies,

Please keep your receipts and make sure that you have no more than $300 in items that you are bringing in.  My hubby and I had a total of 6 bags that we brought and still have 2 other bags that came with family.  Having my wedding dress in hand helped and he had his suit in his garment bag.  We were asked how much we were bringing in and I said $250.  However; I could back up my $250 with receipts (old navy $1.00 flip flops etc..) I kept the receipts with me in my carry on just in case.

Happy Planning and Safe Travels

Ooh-- great tip, thank you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
