wow!!! i'm super impressed. i am getting married a few days after you (april 5) and i don't think i'm anywhere near as organized/on top of things as you are. ;) i have decided not to do OOT bags. i decided to save on that and opt for spending a little more on wedding favors (talavera tile pieces).  however, that starfish bottle opener caught my eye. where did you find it?

ebay has some of the bottle openers, try typing lot starfish bottle opener, and it'll pull up some for roughly $1 each (50 for $93)

Hi MrsLtoBe - I went back & forth about OOT bags and then just took the plunge - this should be fun getting everything there!  I found the bottle openers at the "cheapest" last March at Price Wise Favors.  I bought 100 for $1.30 a piece = $130 & I got 10% off.

Here is the link:

http://www.pricewisefavors.com/starfish-design-bottle-opener-favors-p-1104.html

I just checked their website this morning and they are offering another 10% off today...so if you bought 100 they are $1.17 a piece - although shipping is like $18!  They equal out to $1.36 a piece - that's what I paid.

If you bought 50 - they are $1.42 minus 10% $1.28 each - and shipping is $14. - Still not bad - like $1.55 each....ebay prices 50 for $93 is like $1.86 a piece.

Good luck!

My FI and I are planning to do OOT bags for our wedding as well. One thing we keep going back to is getting all the items down to Mexico with us and not costing an arm and a leg. (I've heard that there can only be $300 brought through customs).

Elissae, how are you planning on transporting all the items? Carry on plane or shipping to resort?

Everything you have done looks fabulous!

My resort indicated that I should bring everything there personally.  They will not take deliveries of provisions, plus there is no guarantee it will get there with customs and all.  I feel more comfortable taking it there myself, too.  (Well, not lugging it all - hahaha).

Yes, I believe it's $300 per person in customs.  I am traveling that day with my FI, his son, and 2 other couples so I think I can separate it well enough.  I am planning on packing extra suitcases with all the wedding provisions.  Right now I am thinking 2 but there may be 3 (in addiiton to my gown and my own personal suitcases' with clothes, etc!)  Some of our friends donated old suitcases to us that they no longer need/want.  I plan to leave them in Play a del Carmen when we come home.   I may leave a note with the maid to either keep them or give away/throw away/donate.

I've heard a lot of bad stories when people try to ship ahead of time, although it would be so much easier, right!!?? Its lucky if it even makes it through customs because they need people to arrange for a pickup, etc. so i wouldn't recommend doing anything but bringing it yourself or with other guests.

Cocktail Hour Ideas:

We have hired a cigar roller for our cocktail hour.  I ordered the following matchboxes from www.theknot.com.1000

I will place them in this basket at the cigar roller's table which I bought at Michael's.

I also made this sign for the cigar rolling table - I got the idea from BDW bride mrspfafftobe.  I bought the frame from Michael's as well.

I am in the process of a few more DIY Projects - hopefully I can make my own drink stirrers.  I have a few templates & I am playing around with them.  I am also making my ceremony programs, wedding day timeline as well as my dinner menus...I will post more as I complete them and have pictures for you.

To be continued...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
