Riu Ocho Rios - Booking Venues / Services

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My fiancee has been freaking out lately about our upcoming wedding at ROR in April, 2013.  The wedding coordinator and all communications from the hotel state that everything is to be booked after your arrival when you meet with the wedding coordinator.  This seems very odd - What if you want a specific location for the reception and it's booked?  What if the hairstylist is booked up?  What if , what if , what if?  Has anybody else been able to reserve a specific venue and services in advance of arrival?  Has anyone waited until their meeting with the wedding coordinator and been disappointed?  Thank you.

I am also getting married in April 2013. I have already contacted Riu and we are booked to be married on the beach for 3pm. When you sent your booking request you should have been given the option for which location. You can not reserve salon services until 6 months in advance. Also, you can contact the wedding coordinator to book something. We have already booked the areas which we wish to use throughout the day. Hope this helps.

Hi, I'm also getting married at the ROR on April 12, 2013.  I booked the 3:00pm ceremony on the beach and private reception dinner on the beach afterwards.  I've been emailing Keisha the coordinator asking various questions.  She was the one who confirmed my ceremony and reception locations were booked.  She also answered questions about chairs, larger cake costs, outside vendor costs etc... On top of that I've been reading a lot of these threads.. Some really good info.  If you have any questions, I might be able to answer from what I've been able to gather so far.

My advice, if you're an anxious bride like myself... Send Keisha an email (mice.ori@riu.com) and confirm the locations you want.  For ceremony you have a choice between beach gazebo, beach (with nothing or a chuppah), or garden.  For reception, there's a few more options.  You can have a semi-private free dinner in their public dining hall, a private dinner on the beach, by the pool or one of their private dining halls(all have bars and buffet food and ability to have dj/dancing etc... but cost $55pp), or you can rent the disco for 2 hours ($1000) or the beach for just drinks ($15pp for 2 hours).  Anyway, Keisha has a list of extra costs for all these things which she's pretty fast at responding.

Hope that helps :)

I am getting married June 15, 2013.  I have been communicating with Keisha since July.  Despite what corporate says, she will begin working with you if you contact her.  She responds quickly and will even call you if you need her to.  I hope this eases your stress level.  If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. I think I have asked her every possible question in the book already.  :)

Hello Ladies, I was in Jamaica for Thanksgiving. I arranged to do a site visit with Keisha when I was there. She was right on time, professional and great to work with. She answered all of my questions and showed me around the resort. Again if you have questions do not hesitate to contact her. She is easy to talk to. I know I made the right choice for my wedding location. Let me know if I can help in any way!

Hi Ladies,

I'm getting married this up coming January and I haven't had anyone contact me.  I'm starting to get a little bit anxious as I'm not sure what is going on.  I have e-mail Keisha a couple time and she doesn't seem to be answering any of my questions.  When does the coordinating begin approx.?  Am I getting a bit ahead of myself?  There is only 4 months left and I havent made any arrangement except we are getting married in the garden at 4:15pm.  Can anyone bring be a little clarity?

Thanks

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
