Hey Ladies,

I am wondering if anyone on here has had anything shipped directly to the resort instead of carrying it on the plane? I spoke with Phoebe from Beaches Turks and she feels Customs might give me a problem if I have too many items...

Hey there,

I have gone to Fed Ex and looked into shipping my stuff down there as well and it's EXPENSIVE! thatswck.gif I was told it would be about $400 for a small box or suitcase from NYC, and you would have to pay the duty taxes for the box to come into the country. The best bet is to pack stuff in extra suitcases and have friends and family take one suitcase a piece, that's my plan!  Where are you in NYC?

DO NOT MAIL/FED EX ANYTHING DOWN TO THE T&C!!!!   Yes I am shouting, but I mean it.   Anything shipped on island is subject to a 36% import duty + shipping and clearing fees (yes, you would owe 36% of the value of items being shipped, if you ship $100 worth of items duty/taxes to the government is $36, not including the shipping fee and customs clearing fee).   You would have to include a receipt of all items for duty assessment.  if you do not include receipts, it would delay clearing and they can assess values as they see it!   It is WAY too expensive and too chancy on clearing problems to ship.   You should not have any problems with customs at the airport as all of the items you are bringing are going back off island.   You will be fine.   It is a lot cheaper to just pay for an extra suitcase or for someone to bring a suitcase or so down!   (I have lived here for more than 17 years....DO NOT ship it here!)

  • 1 month later...

Beaches won't let you ship anything to the resort unless you are physically there to retrieve it.  Over the next year I will be dividing things I need to take and give them to other people that are going.  That way I don't have to take  it all.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
