Bridesmaid Dress... thoughts?

Recommended Posts

Dessy is VERY pricey!  That dress cost $265 base without alterations.  My MOH picked it out. I let her decide on what she wanted and she doesn't have issues with money, but me personally, I think it's too much. Now I gotta get that girl something nice as a gift for standing up for me lol (She's my cousin)

Oh wow, I didn't realize that they were so pricey. Just saw that I liked all of the dresses that have been posted. I have always had expensive taste lol. I don't want my girls to have to pay over $100 for their dresses since they are already paying so much to be at my wedding. Any ideas on good places to find nice dresses for a good price?

Ya know as silly as it sounds, check out target. They had really nice dresses we were talking about a few pages back. Check online, they have a decent selection. If you do go designer I personally would recommend ordering them online. Netbride and Victoria's bridal couture are both reputable and can save a lot of money vs what the salons charge. That's where I have been getting BM dress quotes from, and they both price match.

I am leaning more towards short, because my wedding is in August in Punta Cana. I think it will be hot enough just being in clothes.

I can't imagine all of my bridesmaids leaving me a month before my wedding. How devastating!

And on the note of BMs looking ugly in their dresses...that is my biggest fear. I want them all to feel beautiful yet I do not know of a neckline that flatters all shapes and sizes. I like the idea of the same designer but different styles. Then they will like their dresses and maybe they will all end up with the same one too!

Yea- I don't know why I love the longer styles. I just think they look so flowy and ethereal- but I get away with it because our wedding is in the evening. Some of my girls wanted short styles, but when we found the long style with the short front- they fell in love and everyone won! HAHA I'm actually surprised my girls all agreed on the same dress. We tried on so many and couldn't agree and I thought "oh lord here we go" but when I found this dress they all loved it.

I like Dessy dresses- but since I wanted a longer style, there weren't many with a light chiffon fabric that was breathable. We went with Bari Jay only because they had the color I wanted. Bari Jay has a TON of really cute short styles. Check out the site.

You could also check out Dress Barn- haha I buy my work dresses there and get Calvin Klein dresses for $40. If you have a small bridal party, any store with off the rack dresses can work.

Davids Bridal has cute dresses for under $100- but my bridesmaids don't like DB because we had a bad experience and now they never want to go back haha.

If you are ever in NYC- There is a store called Cliquers on 34th and Herald Square. It looks like a sketchy basement store lol but they sell nice, cheap dresses. When I was a bridesmaid last minute I went there and got a dress for $65. While there, a bride planning her elopement went in to buy a white dress. She got it for $105 and it looked beautiful.

Wow thanks for all of the advice! I will definitely check into these places and look online some. I have 3 bridesmaids and a MOH. I would like my MOH's dress to be slightly different, but haven't quite figured out how yet. Whenever we find the dresses I will make sure to post them on here!

I'm also doing Persian Plum!! I'm obsessed with Dessy!! Did you check out their style boards?

I'm going with my bridal party tomorrow to try on dresses.  I can't wait to pick one!!  There's so many styles I like online!  We are definitely doing short, but I agree with you they are EXPENSIVE!  $150 is on the real low end.. most of the ones I saw are $250-$300.  I fell in love with the color and haven't come across another designer that has the same option (and I have looked high and low!!)

I wonder what that dress would look like without the flower.... what style # is it?

I don't recall the style number, you can browse their website it's on there. We did that and when we actually went to the bridal store, she ended up not liking any of the dress we saw on the website and tried this one on at the store and loved it.  I think it would be really plain without the flower but I am partial to it. The dress is really light and flowy.   She is not the type to buy anything off of ebay or target..trust me ..however, I am lol I buy tons of things on ebay!  Hell, I am having my wedding dress is a Chinese knock off!   But I do not stand in the way of people with expensive tastes as long as they got the $$$ and don't complain!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
