Recommended Posts

Good Morning Ladies!

I want to DIy our cake topper. :o) I am thinking a script font wood letter with rhinestone... But I am wondering, what size height and width and dimensions should I order..?

Craftcuts.com seem to have aweseme deals.. I just need insight on the sizing while I try to chose what font looks best for an R.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. :o)

I was deciding between those two fonts as well!..

Chopin is 5 x 6.2

Brock is 5 x 4.7

And now I'm even liking Monterey, it's 5 x 5.8

I didn't realize how much the fonts vary in size.. So I've been doodling out each one to it's approxiamte size to see which will look best. I also have an email in to the WC to see what size the top layer of our cake will be.. I'm assuming 6 inches though.

If you get your letters from CraftsCuts how will you support them so they stand in the cake?

Good call on on confirming cake size with your WC, I should probably do the same.  I've actaully been contemplating doing a 5" or 6" topper with 3" or 4" "J' and 'T' letters. But again, I should check the cake size first, but maybe I can put our initials on a lower cake tier.

I have something similar to this - originally it was going to be a cake topper. I just glued two wooden skewers onto them. The skewers are super cheap, for a bunch of them. Our letter is an "M", so I just glued them behind the straightest of the lines, so they don't peek out.

We're doing cupcakes, so instead of a cake topper, I'm going to put it on our card/mad lib basket.

I was thinking of securing the back side with scewers.. (not sure of spelling, but those things you put kaboobs on.) I plan to paint the letter and scewers with silver acrylic paint and rhinestone both sides.

I love the 3 letter monogram! :o) and just saw a pic with the first name initials on the lower tab and they were super cute!!  I too wanted the 3 letters but I don't like our monogram.. BRA.. lol.. or ARB isn't so bad, but I just don't care for the look of it.. lol... :-/

Great idea Allie! :o) Great minds think alike.. hehe

Choco, you wont have a problem with your fonts since I've checked those out, but anyone else looking for other letters, make sure the left and right side are equal at touching the cake, otherwise you'll have a slanted letter or scewers sticking out from the cake at one end. I fell in love with one font and then realized we would have an awkward letter once placed onto the cake.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
