Photographers at Secrets Maroma Beach

Recommended Posts

Hello ladies!

I am getting married at Secrets Maroma Beach in 2 months (November 23, 2012) and wanted to know if anyone had anything to say about the two photographers that resort works with - Juan Navarro and Adventure Photos.  I've looked at photos from both photographers and, truthfully, I thought the photography was laughable.  I was embarrassed for them that they had put some of the photos on their websites and/or facebook accounts!  Some of the photos were SO BAD.  Now I'm super nervous that I'm going to get some idiot taking photos for the most important day of our lives!  It's only 2 months before the wedding, so I guess it's a bit late now to find an outside photographer, plus it would probably be absurdly expensive to do.  Has anyone worked with either of these photography groups and have specific names of photographers to request from each group?  Or maybe some examples of your own wedding at SMB by either of these photographers?  HELP IS APPRECIATED!! :)

Sincerely,

Marie, a very stressed bride...

Congrats mariegerecke + welcome to the forum community!  yes, your instincts are accurate......we strongly recommend you look for an outside photographer to capture those irretrievable wedding "moments that matter"!
The house photographers at most resorts come and go, and don't have the training that professionals have. Some have even been known to lose entire wedding shoots! and there's no way to make that up. It's not good to take a chance on something that important!

We're already booked for your wedding date, but can recommend another excellent photographer if you wish.

Here's a link to an album we took at a Secrets Maroma Beach wedding recently........https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151086570214487.453233.18683524486&type=3

Pls let me know if you'd like a reference, and all the best with your plans and exciting times ahead :)

We used Juan Navarro and were very happy with our photographs and experience we had with his company. I would certainly not say he is an idiot(or Adventure photos for that matter). One of my friends used Adventure photos for a session the day after her wedding when the weather was nicer and loved her photos from them. Adventure Photos is actually on site at the resort; Juan Navarro is not and does weddings all over Riviera Maya.

Trying going to the Secrets Maroma thread, there are photos posted there from Adventure photos, Juan photos, and other photographers post there as well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
