Mufin1785, did you manage to speak with Daniel? How are you feeling today? I hope that he managed to provide you with everything you had previously agreed on. Although, we have already given them over $1100USD as a deposit in November 2012, we are considering counting it as a loss and moving on.... as you can imagine, I have spent my entire evening crying over this :(

Curious to know what Daniel said. Feel free to share as I have not cancelled officially yet with them.

Warmest Regards,

AR

I've been emailing Daniel back and forth- sometimes it takes a few days for him to respond, but so far he's been pretty helpful.  He assured me that the photographers included in the photography package I booked with Flori were the same, and he added a DJ for our reception.  I am bummed about being charged to bring our own alcohol, but I'm also kind of looking forward to not having to stress about where we're going to get wine and liquor from and/or how we're getting it to Punta Cana.  I think we're just going to end up going with the upgraded open bar.

I guess my situation is a bit different though because we're staying at the Majestic Elegance, but we're not getting married there.  Flori is still coordinating our ceremony- it will be on a private beach just at 4:30pm, so we were already planning to pay for a cake, a champagne toast, etc.  The resort wanted to give me a 1:00 time slot and I wasn't interested, so I booked the entire wedding (ceremony and reception) through Flori.  Although she's not handling La Barcaza anymore, she did send me an email to let me know that she would still be handling the arrangements for the ceremony.

Daniel has definitely eased my mind a bit, which is great because I was SO nervous about the change in ownership.  I don't care much about chairs or glasses.  I expected going into having a wedding in a different country that it would not be the big production it would have been at home, which is great because a big production is exactly what I didn't want.  The way I look at..I'll be on a sunset cruise with my new husband, family, and best friends with plenty of alcohol and good music.. how bad can it be, right? :)

  • 5 weeks later...

Oh my gosh it looks wonderful!!   I'm so glad to hear you had a great time- helps to ease some nerves!  Did you have to pay extra for the wooden chairs? Did you guys have a DJ.. details!! :)  We're having our reception on board in July- would love to hear all about your experience!

The wooden chairs were not extra the La Barcaza provided them.  We had prepared our IPod with a wedding play list but to our surprise they had a DJ on-board.  Our centerpieces came from Caribbean Celebrations they were $50 each and we only needed 4 each table sits 8 guests.  We opted to have our dinner, first dance cake cutting, then the swimming.  The normal flow of things is the take you to the swimming hole first then dinner.   Our cake was from the resort.  I would put someone in charge of making sure the flow goes as you want.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
