Hey... So its been a month since we got married. I can't believe it. I have to say I am so happy we choose to get married in the  Bahamas. We had a great time and so did all our family and friends who came. I'll just give you guys a quick little summary of how it was.

The Riu was a great choice. It may not be as nice, big or new as other RIU's in the Caribbean but well worth the money. The food was really delicious. You can't go wrong with free unlimited drinks. And Atlantis was right beside us so it gave our group plenty of variety if they got bored.

Riu staff was great to us. Even though we were worried about dinner bookings (since we never heard from the wedding co-ordinate) We had to speak with management but they already had our request. So I'm guessing the email got sent.lol

The only thing I was disappointed with the hotel was that they were not willing to provide us with an upgrade to one of the beachfront suites, I really was anal about having a nice room but they made us pay for it. I don't know if it was the timing we were there or because we technically didn't have a wedding package with them but still we had over 50 people booked into that hotel so I would have thought they would have,

We got married at the Cloisters which was worth every penny. I have to say all our guests loved the location too. It was a nice surprise for them and from what I heard they loved it gave them beautiful scenery for their own photos.

Luciano's was where we did our reception. Food was delicious. Our planner ended up getting Josie as our DJ which worked out perfectly. He was great. Our Photographer Mark took a million photos of everyone (not just us) which was so great and we got a lot of photos to share with everyone. Our Planner Debbie at Weddings in the Bahamas went over and beyond our expectations. She was great.

I can't believe its over already: (

Anyways sorry for blabbing on and on... just wanted to share my experience.

Happy planning to everyone and I i'm so excited for everyone who chooses to get married in the Bahamas! You won't regret it!

Thanks for sharing your experience with us JSLM, and most importantly, CONGRATS!!  you're an officialy Bahama-mama! ;-)

Sounds like everything turned out wonderfully, and that's great to hear.  You now have me even more excited about our big day!

How did things turn out with the wedding coordinator at the RIU? or did you not need to really work with her anymore?

And any other tips? or lessons learned?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
