BahamaMama2013... I would say its the norm for the RIU not to respond. But you should re-email them back this week and just say its been over 6 weeks I haven't heard from you. I emailed them about 2 weeks ago and I got a response,. I emailed Debbie and although the reply was from her account it was another person emailing me back. Debbie apparently hurt her leg and is off for a bit??? so this girl is taking care of things.

We are bringing so many things down. We are anticipating 5-6 tables. We are going to take a third suitcase and just pay for it. As well spread alot of things between our parents and brothers.

The only worry right now I have what to do in case it rains. So mad cause they said the only option is getting married in the conference room in Atlantis. I think they should have a better back up especially since we're paying  ALOT extra to get married at the Cloisters. When we decided to get married they had said the rain option was still at one and only (under the pool deck) and now they are saying that they don't do that anymore. WTF.

We have so many people who have not RSVP'ed... so annoying. We also have about 4-8 people who are going to decided like the week we leave if they are going to come which is annoying cause I don't think they understand that this is still a wedding.

I'll definitely keep you posted about the hair and dj... and EVRYTHING!!! i can't believe its almost here.

Hi BahamaMama2013 - I am having a really hard time deciding if we should have our reception in the ballroom or on the ocean view terrace. Are you having yours in the ballroom or is it a different private room? The only pictures I have of the ocean view terrace aren't very good and I can't tell how private it will be. I would love to know what others are doing for their reception at the RIU. Thanks!

JSLM - thanks for the update with the WC at RIU, i sent another follow up email maybe 2 weeks ago and included the main "RIU weddings" email address, still no reply... i'm at 8 weeks now.  Thinking i'm going to have to call them directly soon.  Just a little frustrating now that i have less than 5 months to go and still haven't firmed up some of the basic plans.  (strike against me for not using a wedding co-ordinator like you did!)

I'm just as worried about the rain, especially when the Cloisters is such a huge piece of the budget and is SO what i look forward to most!  But you've picked the non-rainy season for your wedding... i'm sure you'll be fine.  Rain during this time of the year there is usually a quick down pour, not continuous rain. I'm sure you'll be fine!!  Praying the same for mine!

That is annoying, last minute bookings... i'll likely get to that same point in a few more months.  But right now, i'm estimating maybe an additional 5-6 more then i already have booked.

If i don't hear from you before your big day, congrats to a beautiful and memorable wedding in the Bahamas!!  Enjoy the moment!!

Hi Crystal - we're having it in the private ballroom. I believe it's one huge ballroom that can be split into 3 seperate smaller rooms.  However i'm having atleast 70 guests, so i believe i'm using the whole room.

I didn't opt for the ocean view patio because i believe it's not completely private and holds only up to 40 people.  I've stayed at the RIU paradise island before and this OV patio is basically an extension of the main buffet restaurant at the front of the hotel. I think it can be seperated from the buffet restaurant by glass walls/windows that open and close.  But no dance floor - that was another reason i didn't opt for it.

I ended up receving a few more picture of the ballroom from the WC at the RIU. If you'd like to see them i can email them to you if you'd like.

Hi BahamaMama 2013,

Thank you so much for the information. I'm definitely starting to lean towards the ballroom now. If you wouldn't mind sending them to me, that would be great. The more pictures, the better. My email address is wilsonc8565@yahoo.com.

We will probably end up having around 40 people but still have a few RSVP's coming through.

Thanks so much,

Crystal

Hi Ladies! I am also getting married at the RIU. I have had no luck getting in contact with anyone. What is the date of your wedding their. Mine is next month :( could you pls share any pics you have of the RIU ballroom with me at sharmilapadman@gmail.com? I'm at wits end right now and slowly starting to panic. Thank you!

Not sure if you have checked Bahamas Finder yet but they have a section on weddings and have vendors that you may want to look into. Visit their site http://www.bahamasfinder.com and using the drop down arrow on the right go to Nassau and they have several categories under the title Weddings that may help you.

Mario Nixon is a great photographer, I have seen him in action and he is very personable. Another one that comes highly recommended is Ben Jamieson.

I can't really help with the DJ situation. I don't know about any highly recommended DJ's in the Bahamas but if you go to Bahamas Finder and search through their clubs listings I'm sure a DJ from one would be more than happy to help with your wedding.

The best way to know if the Powerboat Adventures tour offers group rates is to call them. I checked around and couldn't find any information on group rates as well. Here is their local number 242-363-2265.

Finally, a good rehearsal dinner location depends on how much you are willing to spend. I know Atlantis offers packages but is extremely pricey. Other good places are Breezes, Sandals, and Graycliff.

Sorry if this post comes a little late, hope your wedding turns out great!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
