We are looking into all inclusive resort. Maybe have the wedding at the resort or go off site . I don't want a beach wedding , I'm more into gazebo or a garden or even monument place. For the reception I want indoor but still have the ocean view. My wedding In 2015 but because we have a lot of guest I want to start my research early. Please help me.. With advise as far as location and accommodation for my guest . :)

Just another idea.... I'm getting married at the RIU. Choose it because its all inclusive so our guests food/drink will be taken care of for the time they are there. The down side is that the resort itself is pretty small. But the few times I've been there it was good. We also chose it because Atlantis is right beside this hotel walking distance. Has casino, club/bars.Your guests can walk over any time. (except have to pay still to see the aquarium and water park). We are not doing a beach wedding either. We decided that we are going to get married at One and Only Cloisters and then take our guests to a place called Luciano's for dinner. Let me know if this helps.

Does he seem affordable?? and does he sound like he plays a wide variety of music?

Hi Ladies!  i'm getting married in Bahamas Nov 2013! we're staying at the RIU and are set on having our ceremony at the Cloisters (so pretty!).  We're considering the RIU's private ballroom for our reception for convenience but have to pay per head for meals because it is private vs. semi.  There prices are reasonable (Atlantis and O&O was too pricey for the number of guests we're having)....but Debbie at the RIU has been slow to get back to me on things... so i'm still not 100% convinced i want to have it there.  Plus, the setting of it is not DW like...so would really need to consider decor.

JSLM - could you please let me know approximately the cost of Luciano's?.. i've been referred this place by a couple other people.  And would you have any info on other venues for reception??

Debating whether or not to get a WC, especially because i'm not getting much of a reply from Debbie at the RIU...

Help!  any info/feedback would be awesome!!

Congrats bahamamama2013 (love the name). I cant really give u a price list on Luciano's because it canreally vary as thry have a lot of options. If you go to their website you can look up their menu. If you consider Luciano's you have to also take into consideration on your guest transportation. I would say it will cost close to double the riu. If you are doing open bar, its per person per hour so if your doing 4hrs its close to $50per person just for alcohol. I also think Debbie is slow. Avg an email response every 2 weeks. Lol

Thanks so much for the info on Luciano's JSLM, and congrats to you!  when is your Bahamas wedding date?

Are you working with a WC? or just organizing everything on your own?  I'm assuming that since i'm not going with the RIU to have my ceremony, that i will have to work directly with CLoisters to arrange things like officiant, marriage license, flowers, transportation, etc.  Debating if it's worth while to get a WC instead... plus, i'm now going on 3 weeks without hearing back from Debbie! =P

Happy Planning!

Thank you BahamaMama2013. Glad I can help some how. I'm getting married July 30th. Count down is on!

I am working with a WC... Check out Weddings in the Bahamas. They offer a Cloisters package which is what I took. Cloisters is owned by Atlantis I believe so you would have to technically go through them to book, but if you go with this WC she's been great so far she can arrange everything for you. I am not a very organized person and I hate having to deal with vendors and negotiating things etc so for me a WC was the way to go. They will help you with everything you need, flowers, transportation etc. The only thing is cost goes up up up.

They are usually quick to get back (although I have been waiting over 2 weeks to hear from them right now). I too have been waiting over 2 weeks to hear back from Debbie from the RIU.

Let me know if you need any more help.

4 months!  exciting!!  how many guests are you expecting?

So that's what i'm waiting for Debbie to respond on, whether i can still apply the RIU wedding package (ie. officiant, licence, bouquet, cake... etc.) to my offsite location since i plan to have the reception back at the RIU.  And whether or not she could help with other things like transportation, flowers at ceremony.  Because if it not, then i think i may just work with a WC.  I was referred to that same wedding planning service by a couple others... and now considering all the "other" costs, it may be worth while to go with that Cloisters package.  I already have the agreement from O&O/Atlantis for the CLoisters... i just need to send in my payment for our reserved date.

What are some of the things that you're still working with the RIU on? I'm wondering if i'll be able to arrange a rehearsal dinner there for my 70+ guests.

I still feel like I have so much to do. I had met Debbie the last time I was at RIU so she is my only contact person from there. I'm actually waiting to hear back from her to see about booking a rehearsal /welcome dinner... I think the only option is the steakhouse and I was told that it was only available for a group seating at 9:30... plus i'm inquiring about their spa and prices for the bridesmaids, mothers etc.

We are expecting around 40... 70 would be our max.

How are your plans going?

Well Debbie finally got back to me last Friday, apparently had some computer issues.

So we are likely sticking with the reception back at RIU in the private room after the Cloisters ceremony, and still getting a RIU wedding package.  Now waiting to hear back from Debbie on securing the date and finalizing a few other details.

Other than that, started dress shopping, FI's suit is already purchased...and finalizing formal invitations so we can send them out in the next few weeks.  If you still feel like you have so much to do, i don't know how i'm going to make it for another 8 months!? lol This wedding planning is never ending and consuming i must say! i have a love hate relationship with it all! lol

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
