I'm getting married July 2013 and I'm using Claudia Rodriguez....check her out on this site. She has SOOOO many awesome reviews, is really easy to talk to (her English is amazing!) and her prices are decent as well :) We booked her two nights at the Barcelo Beach hotel for $300 instead of paying the $500 outside vendor fee.

You guys are so helpful!!

I am just starting this process because my fiance and i just decided on the fact we may be doing a destination wedding.

So we will be looking over the packages and picking one that matches our head count. Which we are not sure of that yet because we are getting married in October 2014 most likely that may be subject to change we are not sure yet. Any suggestions on a certain time of year? We have been down there a variety of times May, June, and close to July started raining a bit closer to July (tropical season) Didn't know if anybody had any other suggestions on the time of year though.

Any suggestions on starting this process??

I am wondering about the photographer situation it says in the packages photographers are not allowed outside of the hotel? is that true? Same with the DJ and Flowers?  Sorry for acting so new I am little overwhelmed! ahh!

Thanks!!confused.gif

As for starting the process, I first booked with our travel agent...she held 30 seats on the plane/hotel rooms and was great about contacting everyone and keeping up to date on who owed what (meaning I didn't have to do a thing!!!) Then she gave me the hotel wedding planner's email and we have been emailing back and forth in steps about the wedding itself.

Outside photographers ARE allowed. I just booked Claudia Rodriguez. She has great prices, her english is amazing and her photos are so gorgeous (check her out on here under vendor reviews). You have to either book 2 nights at one of the barcelo hotels OR pay $500...its usually cheaper to book the nights. I'm not getting a DJ and the hotel is doing my flowers ( they look amazing!). For outside makeup artists, the day pass is $75, so maybe the DJ is the same :)

Also, what photographers are you ladies using? I'm starting the process of shopping around for one and don't know where to start.
Check out the other Barcelo Palace thread if you haven't ready...you can find a ton of information on it (over 3000 posts). We used Juan Navarro as our photographer and I can't say enough about his work! Here is the link to his blog of our wedding http://www.juanphotos.com/blog/weddings/barcelo-maya-deluxe-destination-wedding-chasity-brian-riviera-maya-q-roo/ And our trash the dress: http://www.juanphotos.com/blog/weddings/tulum-cenote-trash-the-dress-chasity-brian-tulum-riviera-maya-q-roo-mexico/ Happy planning :)

Thank you for the info!! Right now I have 3 runner ups : Ivan Luckie , Sascha Gluck, or Juan Navarro!! Decisions Decisions .. How do I pick ??
Id start with requesting package and pricing info from each one you like, and also checking availability with them is a good start because if anyone is already booked then that'll play into your decision too! :)

We have 26 people booked, most staying at the Colonial and a few at the Palace. We will be staying two weeks at the Palace! We have the Strawberry Passion package because we wanted the reception on the beach. I forget all the choices we made for our reception food but the main meal is Surf and Turf, I know that much! Our coordinator is Victoria and she's been good so far.

We also booked Juan Navarro, we loved his work since the day we first saw it and he is super reasonably priced! We also booked PlayaWeddings to do videography after seeing their videos and hearing from several past destination brides who didn't have their day filmed and wished they had. Here's a tip for getting around the $500 fee (as we were going to have to pay $1000 because of the two vendors), go to Barcelo.com and sign up for mybarcelo, they send out deals every so often and you can book your vendor two nights at any of the 5 resorts there (we booked the Beach for our two photogs) and we saved ourselves $400 by doing it this way! The rooms were each $297 total for the two nights - much more manageable than the $500 for them to be there for the day!

I have the centrepiece emails and the menus as well if anyone wants them I can send them to you if you give me your email. Because I am done all the planning process with the coordinator already if you have any questions about the process of that let me know and I can try to help out!

I am SOOOOOO excited our wedding is getting so close!

Happy Planning Palace Brides!

FieryNurse,

If you would not mind emailing the centerpiece and menu options..Heather.Fitzgerald83@yahoo.com. We are planning an August 2014 wedding at the Palace and are in the baby step phase of planning. ( I just emailed the coordinator but have trolled the websites for months and we also switched from Punta Cana to Riviera Maya!)

Can anyone offer any advice as to a time line of when fees are due? Deposits, Final payment (form of payment)when people should book etc? I am VERY nervous to send money away to no mans land so to speak...

We want to have the save the dates out by November 2013, Invitations out by Jan 2014, Final head count by April 2014... Am I being unrealistic? Luckily the Hubby-to-be is in the travel industry and will coordinate all travel arrangements for our guests. We have a tentative list of 100 to "invite" realistically may only have 50 show, but are planning a budget for a 100 guests so we can breathe...

How was the experience from other brides? How were the family dynamics? Were you surprised that so many guest came/did not show? Were any of your guests offended at their travel costs?

In the end I know this is about us, but I want to hear it from he experienced so to speak.

Is my anxiety creeping through your screen? worried2.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
