BARCELO MAYA PALACE DELUXE

Recommended Posts

I am also getting married at Barcelo Maya Palace (on March 1st, 2013) and also chose the Mint Breeze package for all the same reasons you ladies mentioned! According to my WC they choose the banquet room based on how many people you have and because you likely don't know this until a lot closer to the wedding she said we will determine that at a later date. This may differ for every WC as it seems they all say different things!

AudreyP thanks for the pictures of the different halls! I agree that the Chak-Halal room is probably the best and if you have a large group I am sure that is what you would end up with.

Also you guys should check out the main Barcelo Palace thread: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/21746/barcelo-maya-palace-brides/3270#post_1807155. It is very long but has LOTS of good information from past and present brides!

Happy planning :)

Hi Everyone -

New to the forum and getting married May 8th at the Barcelo Mayo Tropical.  Most of you are at the Palace but as I understand it the packages are the same.  We are booked for the ceremony at the gazebo at the palace and I can't wait!

We are just finalizing our group package and then need to get save the dates out to ensure our guests get the best possible rates.  What has been the best way to do this on short notice?  Email?

Thanks!!!!!

I sent my save the dates in the beginning of July (wedding 3/1/13). I would have sent them sooner but we were waiting for our engagement pics to come back and then had to get the STDs made. We just did a generic magnet.

I am in the process of making my own boarding pass invitations. Here are some of my inspirations:

It was actually not too hard, I am just picky and wanted it to be certain way so that took some time. It is actually pretty inexpensive to do as well! I will post my finished product on my planning thread in a few weeks so you can check it out if you like:  http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/81510/kaelas-rivieria-maya-planning-thread-3-1-13

I have seen others do passport invitations that were really cute too!

Hello ladies, I already had my wedding at the Barcelo Maya Palace on July 25th, 2012 and I did had a Mint Breeze for my package :) Love everything about this. Our wedding coordinator (WC) was Victoria, amazing experience with her. At first you really need to go trough every single package and pick what best for you. We had a small wedding and breeze package was more then enough. It was everything we need. I did bought in states my own decoration for the room... I just always wanted to have Martha Steward Collection and this what i did, Michaels Craft Store and wrapwithus.com become my friends. I purchased all my favors and decoration for table including absolutely adorable placement card shell holders online and the rest in Michaels store. Once you will book a date with WC you will start slowly picking everything for you day. Don' t worry much because you can do any adjustments or even change everything once you will arrive to resort and meat with your WC.

The night before the Big day we booked with our WC the Rehearsal Dinner at Brazil steakhouse, as I said we had a small wedding in total 16 people and it was another great idea. If you have more you might want to discuss with your WC.

As far as our package here what we picked for our menu: 1) Curried Marinated Chicken and Tomato Salad, 2) Asparagus cream soup, the best soup ever (everyone loved it), 3) Pan Seared Fish Medallion, Parmesan cheese risotto, asparagus and red bell pepper coulis... yum! and then 4) dark chocolate fondant desert - best ever!!!! and the wedding cake - strawberry and pineapple, oh mu it was good even for the picky eater like me :). Overall, the food on our reception was fantastic!

By the way after reading so many reviews I did not get a cocktail hour.... all my guests were busy taking pictures anyways and if anyone needed a drink they went to next bar and got what they wanted :) We had a ceremony at 4pm, following by reception at 6pm...so it was tight, but perfect. Imagine hot weather and you under sun.... yup we were wet and tired. My now hubby had to run to sore and buy extra shirt... but I got what I wanted a 100% sunny mexican day :)

For photography we stayed away from resort's guys. We hired external photographer Sascha Gluck - it was the best decision ever. Affordable and absolutely amazing! you. It was so easy to work with him. You can google him or find him on this website too. The only thing we had to pay resort' fee or book him at least 2 night in any of 5 Barcelo resorts. Magically Sascha had another wedding the next day after mine and he connected me with this bride, so together we booked him a room for 2 nights. It was double saving. We had him for 2 hours and believe me it was more then enough. 10 minutes before ceremony he came to my room to take some pictures with my made of honer and dad... we got like 100 shots :) then all together we drove to ceremony location and here I go.... almost crying..... actually in tiers walked down to my fiance.... yes and yes even him cried like a baby! It was beautiful day for our wedding. The only thing I wished we would hire a DJ or Mariachi Band... this was a miss on our end, but anyways we had our iPod and we played all the music that we like anyways. Another thing i wished we could of book Sascha for "trash the dress", which i though my mom can photograph the next day, but she got sick and we just let this idea go... oh well. Good luck to you and Congrats!!! Let me know if you have some detailed questions I will be more then happy to help. I've been in this position too when i organized my Big Day :)

I couldn't help but respond to your post because I'm also getting married at Barcelo Maya palace, but on May 18th, 2013. :)

At the moment, I'm also torn about which package to go with.

I've read many reviews about the strawberry package, but of course this comes with a hefty price tag especially if you have a large guest list. I'd say if you have the budget, definitely go with the strawberry package - you can have the option to have your wedding on the beach or in a private open aired resto for example. If you type in the search bar above, "barcelo maya palace strawberry" - you'll come across many brides who speak volumes to this package.

I'm leaning toward to blueberry or mint breeze packages myself, but that's because we have about 70 people coming (at first we thought we'd have 20 people) and we have a super tight budget combine that with a frugal groom too, lol. Not exactly our dream wedding reception but we figured it'll be a good time no matter what we do since we're with our closest loved ones and on vacation! :)

Not sure how much help this message really is, but good luck with the planning.

Hi Audrey,

Who is your wedding coordinator? Do you know how soon before the wedding you can give the final count on the guest list? I cant seem to get a response.

THanks!

Hey Julie, Sorry haven't been on in a while, my wedding coordinator is Claudia. Not sure how long they need to know your final guest list as I'm in the same position in terms of final guest list head count. Right now we have 50 people booked, but are anticipating 70+ guests. That might be why Claudia was able to confirm the bigger hall with me right now? How many people are booked with you so far? Ttys! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
