I just called today the store that I got my dress to ask when exactly it will be ready. The answer was December 1st !!! I take the plane on the 8th ...

When I ordered it, the lady told me the latest will be in the mid-november. That will give plenty of time for the alterations.

This morning, she noticed I was angry and told me that there was nothing she could do...I got mad and she told me to call the owner tomorrow morning when he gets in.

How should I explain my situation? In a calm + polite way !!!

oh yikes that is way too close for comfort. I would see about speaking with the owner asap and if they cannot get it in any sooner you might want to see if they can give you your money back and go somewhere where they have dresses in stock that can be altered in a matter of a few weeks.

This happened to me and I ended up getting my dress less than a week before I left for the wedding (in hindsight that worked well as I didn't have to hide it for long). I didn't shout or curse, but I made it very clear that I would have a dress to take on that plane with me.

I finally spoke with the owner and told her that if my dress was not ready by a certain date, I would come down there and pick a dress from the store at her expense, and that I would sit there while they altered it so I could take it home. She assured me as the owner that it would be there, and it was, but I received a discount just for asking.

Have a back up plan just in case the store doesn't come through, you can deal with them later but you'll still need a dress. My backup was a bridal gown from Nordstrom's website that ships fast (2-3 days expedited) and I had already spoke to a local shop about getting quick alterations if needed.

Hopefully you get your dress in time too. It is frustrating for sure :o(

Annie, I am so sorry to hear this, I would be freaking out as well. You need to call and talk to the owner ASAP!! He needs to know what is going on and you need to get him to assure you that it will be there and the exact date.

Can you do what Jill did and have them pay extra for overnight shipping from the warehouse instead of a slower shipping?

Talk tot he owner and see what he says and then call the designer/manufactorer to see what they can do for you. But try the owner first and try to be calm at first, but if he is not helpful get forceful and tell him you belong to SEVERAL bridal forums and you will tell all brides and any who will listen to avoid his store and why. That should get him a little scared.

Oh wow ... I would be freaking out too. You definitely need to keep your wits about you when speaking to the owner, but also be firm that this was NOT the timeframe that you were given and that the bridal shop needs to see about putting a RUSH on the order or allowing you some sort of alternative plan (getting a dress off the rack and they alter, all free of charge). Do you have anything in writing that states the expected timeframe for delivery? How quick are they promising to be with alterations if the dress DOES come in December 1?

  • 2 weeks later...

It took me a while to give you all some feedbacks but that is because I had troubles getting in touch with the owner...

Finally, I will have my dress for the 15th of November. That will give me 3 weeks to have it altered.

I am glad that it won't be arriving 7 days before I leave but 3 weeks !

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
