Hi TrishaJ34.  I've seen cute pics of the pinwheels as well!  I just happened to like the parasols a little more, but there's one pic I keep running across that makes me want them!  I think I'm going to have the girls walk with the parasols open.  The FI thinks the guys should hold the parasols over the bridesmaids as they enter, because he says guys hold the umbrella so why is it any different.  So we're deciding on this, but I've got the final say on this one. I'm actually still debating on whether the girls will walk in with the guys or individually. What are you thinking of doing? I agree, the costs of 5 bridesmaid bouquets was just not budgeted for, so this is a cute alternative. If you are still contemplating about flowers however, I ran across an article today that suggested the use of baby's breath since it is relatively inexpensive, especially compared to other flowers. So this is a thought.  I may end up incorporating baby's breath along the chairs outside, maybe in mason jars, and possible a little color, but it's still cute on it's own.   Just an idea!  The parasols are fun though, and add to some neat pictures!  If you have a coordinator, see how much rental is if you want to save more money.  My coordinator is going to send a pic of the parasols she has for $2 rentals.   The ones online I want are about $7 per parasol and I want a lace parasol which is a tad pricier, BUT I've cut the budget on my invites, dress and shoes so I'm considering it!

The corsages were super easy to make, and since I used materials I already had, they were free.

Where did you end up getting your parasols from?  As of now, we are getting corsages and parasols.  Would you mind sharing a pic?  And are you getting a parasol for yourself for pics? If so are you getting the same style, different color, or both than the bridesmaids for pictures?

I bought two blue parasols online, one for each of my girls, (weddingfavours.ca - I got the ones in "water blue"), and two white parasols for me for pictures, one saying "Just Married" and one saying "Thank You". I was torn on doing this, but thought I would be a little jealous of my girls' lovely ones!  :) I bought the white ones with the writing already on them from a bride on here.

At the top are the pictures the bride sent me, but I cropped them out to paste here. I almost went with three water blue ones, and just painted "Just Married" on one for myself, but then I saw the bride on here selling hers, and changed my mind. I think it will be good!

As for the corsages, I posted them on this site after I made them, so I won't be redundant here, but here is the link:

I included some instructions on how to make them, and pictures of all of them too. It's post #3.

Hope that helps! Any other questions, let me know! Anything I can do to help!

This is a great thread...I was also thinking that it gets very expensive to purchase the bouguets for my bridesmaids and trying to think of an alternative. The parasol idea is great, i think that will look so nice. I'm not sure about the pinwheels.

Anyone else have any other ideas? Anything they have seen done before that was out of the ordinary?

Erg. I wish I would have done that. I bought from a bride off here, and think I overpaid. Sigh. Live and learn. At least I was supporting a fellow bride!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
