My wedding is may 25, 2013 and I sent save the dates out 2 weeks ago and planning on sending invites the first part of January! I thought it would be cutting it close for time of RSVP but want it to be after the holidays! To crazy could be lost!

I created a post just like this a few months back and the responses I received made me feel behind.. After many responses these are my timelines.

Save the Dates - 1 year in advance.. My wedding is May 29th, 2013, But I ended up mailing our Save the Dates on June 25th.

Invitations - Many ladies getting married in May with me have already sent their invites out and have people booked. Our Flight prices came out about a month ago (we-bride and groom- just booked our travels) as there are early booking specials going on..  I'm hoping to get our actual invites out before the month of August is over. We're hoping people will start saving and booking before the holidays hit everyone, but realistically that probably wont happen. And I am requesting that everyone RSVP by February 28th. (3 months in advance) so that we can start getting all of out OOT bag goodies together and make sure we have plenty for everyone.

Our wedding is June 29, 2013..we are working with a travel agent specifically for the booking of our block of hotel rooms. We decided to go this route, because it would allow our guests the option of making payments rather than having to pay out one lump sum. The trick to it though, is that the reservations have to be paid in full by April 15, 2013. Fortunately our travel agent provided the Save the Dates for us and we have decided to go ahead and send those out because really our guests have 8 months, with holidays smooshed in there, to budget and pay for their reservations.

As for the invitations, our coordinator advised that we should send them out 6 months prior to, which put us right before New Years Eve, so we decided to back that date up and will be sending them out the beginning of November instead with an RSVP date of mid March.

Also, we opted to do electronic invites rather than spend the money on paper ones. Has anyone else decided to do this and if so what sites are you using?

This is all great feedback ladies, thanks! I do agree with the argument that you can never send stuff out too early when it comes to a DW, but I guess my concern was if I already sent out STDs and I send out my official invites in a couple months, will people forget by the time the due date of Feb comes around, especially since it's just after the holiday craziness? I guess I can't worry about bugging everyone and it's their responsibility to stay on top of things if they really want to go.

I totally agree with you!.. If you did decide to send out invites soon.. Maybe a Christmas card with RSVP reminder?.. Or like you said.. If they want to go, they will keep up with everything and book. :o)

wow you guys are early birds! I haven't even sent out my STD's yet. They will be going out this month as soon as I get our engagement photos back next week.  We are having a very small wedding and only about 35 invites are going out and that covers about 67 people.  We expect a turnout of about 25-35 guests.  My wedding is in April and my planner suggested our RSVP date be February 1.   I don't want our invites to get lost in the Christmas card hustle and bustle and planned to send them out right after the holidays, giving people 4 weeks to do a final RSVP. I am doing this because I believe that most people will have already told me before they even get the invites if they are coming or not. The guests have the option to RSVP on our wedding website which they will we become well-aware of when they get their STD's this month which has a card with hotel booking info as well. We are NOT doing a resort or anything but I did block out rooms at our hotel and they have until literally a week before the wedding to reserve that. I suspect people will do this early though as they

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
