Hello,

My Name is Ursula, and I am a newbie... I just recently got engaged to my prince charming Yippeee so excited, but my Fiance and I have decided to have a long engagement to give me time to finish school, and also to save up money. We fixed a date for May 2014. Now all I am doing is loads of research. We are so confused as to where we want to have our wedding. I have been looking at weddings in Mexico and they look really beautiful. I have loads of questions, so please any one with suggestions, pictures and ideas, feel free to comment, it would do a lot of good....

Location,

We are having a hard time trying to figure out where is easily accessible, I mean ticket wise. Where is cheaper to go as far as anywhere in the caribbean. I have seen a couple of weddings at the Xcaret Eco Park in Mexico, and they are so beautiful. Now my question on the Xcaret is, is there a beach on the property, because I have always envisioned  my self in a beach setting for the ceremony. Now for the reception, I would like it indoors, with the lights, dance floor, etc. I see the Xcaret has something like that for the reception, but  how much is it to rent? and having between 50-70 guests, would the restaurant look too big for the amount of guests I have? or would there be any place similar that could accommodate and give off course the intimate feel? I was also looking at El Taj condos to stay with my guests, is that a good Idea? and is the beach at El Taj private? or would there be somewhere I could have an intimate wedding ceremony? And also if I have my wedding ceremony at a location other than the Xcaret, and have my reception at the Xcaret, would there be ample time for pictures at both locations before the reception? When do you think is appropriate to start contacting vendors? and suggestions for vendors would be awesome too, DJ, Florist, Makeup, etc.. Any recommendations  would be of so much help. The only thing that I know as far as vendors go, is Del Sol Photography, that's for sure. Anything else, I am a big mess. So please Help and I would be looking forward to hearing from all.

Thanks In Advance

Congratulations on your engagement Ursula!! My finance and I are getting married in Jan 2013 (so soon!) in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. So I won't be much help, but these forums are fantastic! Good luck with finishing school and your wedding planning!!

Congrats on your engagement!

My first advice would be go look through the reviews from the other brides in your potential location and write down things that you learn from them. I have no doubts that other brides have wondered the same information about your location and have told their story and planning here. There is a lot of information - so just don't get overwhelmed with everything (like I did at first!)

AllieRay-

Congratulations to you from another Minneapolis bride to be!

  • 3 weeks later...

Congrats and welcome! I just booked my wedding and we will be having our wedding in Xcaret! The location is gorgeous! I will be having my ceremony in Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel (it is breathtaking - it's a cave-like chapel) and our reception in La Isla! This is definately one of the pricer option in the RIviera Maya area but you can definately work out prices if you get "Weddings in Cancun" wedding planner. I am working with Patricia Lameda and she has been great in providing info and helping me cut back on costs. Let me know if you have any questions. Xcaret has quite a few venues and they do have one near the ocean. It's gorgeous!

Hola Ursula,

Hope your plans are shaping up!!!

We have done several weddings at Xcaret Park (not one ceremony on the beach yet) and some of our gals have gotten ready El Taj. Do we recommend these locations? Of course!!! Xcaret is great for a group of your size and El Taj is the perfect place to stay at :) Here are some images to help you visualize your day:

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
