2013 Majestic Elegance Brides

Yes, asadito. it was delicious. We also went to the Japanese restaurant and Teo (the cook) did such a great Job! He was happy, and his food was delicious. We went back a second time and we had another cook who was unfortunately not that good. our rice was burnt and his food was very salty (I think his name was Marcelo or something like that). But the steak house was the best.

I'm getting married at Majestic Elegance on Tuesday, May 21st at the Gazebo for 1pm.

We're having a cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres at the piano bar from 5:30-7pm.

Dinner is semi-private at the See and Sea at 7pm.

Reception at the Parrots Bar from 8:30/9pm.

Our wedding colours are Apple Green and Fuschia Pink

Save the dates were given out at our Engagement Party in October.

Invites were just sent out this week (we had them made through www.weddingpaperdivas.com) and our RSVP is for February 1st.

We're pretty excited! Have 30 guests booked so far and are expecting around 40. It's a good amount - not too big, not too small :)

Are any of you nervous about the not so great reviews online about the resort? I've travelled to many all inclusive's in the Caribbean and for the price, you would think ME would have stellar reviews....

What are your thoughts? Any feedback from brides who have had their wedding at ME? :)

Tanya

Hi ladies! How is your wedding planning at ME going? We changed our plans, we're now doing a private dinner and reception at the Parrots Bar. 43 people are booked and confirmed :) Who else is there the week of May 19-26th?

Have any of you started your OOT bags? Wondering how they are going and if you've found any great finds in Canada...

Welcome Misskay! You should check out the Majestic Elegance brides facebook group for info on hair/makeup. They do a great job on the hair and there is a ton of pics posted there that you can check out.  I am definitely getting my hair done at the resort. Not so sure about the makeup though. Many brides have commented that the salon applies the makeup quite heavily. But again, I have seen some pictures of brides that have had their makeup done and it's gorgeous. So it depends on what you're looking for. Have you confirmed a date yet?

The BDW site along with the FB group has really helped me with all my planning. If you have any questions, ask away!

Hey! I wanted to ask you on the FB page but what made you change your mind and have a private dinner? I am SO undecided about this. We are having our reception at the Parrot Bar but I am currently booked at the Steakhouse. I originally wanted the Sea and See but it was booked back in October lol. I can't help but think we'd have more time if we had our dinner at the Parrots Bar as well. Instead of getting there after dinner at 830-9pm, we will have already been there for two hours. And no one has to move from one location to another.

Have you checked out the OOT thread on here?

http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/38128/canadian-oot-bag-info-where-to-shop/

it's AWESOME. I've gotten so many great ideas on there.

So far this is what I have:

- Beach bags from Dollarama

- Tylenol - Dollarama

- Fun sunglasses - DH Gate

- Waterproof silicone watches - DH Gate

- Lens cleaning wipes,

- Tide sink packets

-cheetos

- gum

- bubba keg mugs

- spf chapstick

- room key/tip holders

- kleenex

- first aid kit - Dollarama

- Bath puff

- hand sani/ holder - Bath and Body works

Hmm that's it for now. I am gonna throw in some tums, pepto, gravol, Emergn-C maybe some bubble bath because there's jacuzzis in each room, beach ball, aloe and maybe some more snacks lol. They are coming along though! How about yours?

Question for you ladies.. I feel like this is going to sound really dumb, but, I am waiting to hear from the wedding planners to confirm that the judge will be available on our date we have selected to make sure we can have a civil wedding.  I am also seeing posts about pastor Rick marrying people... what is the difference in the two people?  Do we need a confirmation from the judge and then have to get a pastor to marry us?  Just trying to figure it out :) If anyone could answer this that would be fantastic! Thank you!

Hey Krystina,

People that have chosen to do a Symbolic Ceremony hire Pastor Rick York so that it's not just the Wedding Co-ordinator performing the cerermony. He makes it very personal and does a religious or contemporary ceremony. You will only have to have the judge marry you if you are doing a civil ceremony. Originally a Civil was our plan but it was really difficult to work out a date and the time we wanted. There was no way I was having my ceremony at 11 lol. In hindsight, I'm very happy we made this decision. We are doing the paperwork a few days before we leave but our wedding will be in Punta Cana. Also I don't like the idea of waiting for the marriage certificate, the cost is much less and we aren't worrying about translating documents. Our family and friends don't know this is the route we are going and we don't plan on coming out and announcing it but if anyone asks, we'll explain and I know they'll understand completely. Hope this helps and happy planning!!!

Hi everyone, I'm new to the site and just set our wedding for April, 2014 at Majestic Colonial. We are so excited but there are also so many questions. I've been reading a lot of your posts and they are very helpful, thanks so much. One question I have about the photographer. We have a friend who does photography who will come with us and stay at the resort for the week as a guest of our wedding but he was also being doing our pics and maybe video. Does anyone know if we would have to pay the $300 fee still, even if he is paying for the entire week at the resort?

When in April? I am April 14th ;) I don't think that you'll have to pay $300, since its a guest and will be staying at the resort...

Thanks Zhenia. We are April 17th, so we will probably be there from the 12th - 22nd. The WC's have been so helpful, but we are actually thinking about going down next month for 5-days just to check into things a bit more, even though we have been there before. Have you booked everything already? We are doing a private dinner and reception at the Parrot Bar right now, but still have to book music, decorations, etc.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
