Any other 2014 brides here getting an early start?

We decided on the complimentary package and will just be adding some extras like a DJ and decor and stuff for the reception.  I really hope the communication is not too terrible.  I am working with a travel agent in my city and she says she has worked with BP many times before and has had no problems so i am keeping my fingers crossed.  As for the rooftop, I am pretty nervous about not being able to have the skyterrace if someone else books the same day but I hope it works out in the end.  Just going to think positive and try not to think about the alternative lol. What time did you book your ceremony for?  It is pretty great that our weddings are so close!  Will be interesting to compair notes on different aspects of the planning! :)
Yes we will definitely have to compare - I'm so worried I'm going to overlook something vital and only realise I the day! Ha. We booked the 4pm...I think most people prefer the 6pm but that just (to me) feels like your whole wedding day will be over in a couple of hours? I mean traditionally here people get married at 2 or 3pm. I've never been to an evening wedding? What time did you go for? As far as I can see, once you book that time slot (12, 2, 4, 6) then you will definitely be able to have the sky terrace as they only book one wedding per slot (weather permitting). However, I'm not sure how it works with reception if every wedding slot is booked. I think the terrace is split in two but if all 4 wedding parties want a reception I don't know how that would work? Is that what you meant about being nervous? Do you have any prices for the rooms yet? Will you be asking guests to pay or will you be putting money towards? I can't even look at prices until early May as we have to wait for the flights to be released. We have been telling people we're marrying in Mexico since we got engaged August 2013 and I think people are fed up with me not being able to give them a price yet! Ha. Keep us updated :-)

I personally didn't like how the TA from Destinationweddings.com tried to tell me how it's peak season and they're gouging me but that's the price. If he is Dominican, does he have family in DR? If so, have one of them contact the resort from that site and find out the prices in "pesos" not dollars.

I love Apple Vacation. My TA Emily is amazing. So helpful!

I am more nervous about not being able to have the reception up on the Skyterrace if there happens to be a few weddings that day.  The entire reason I picked the hotel was to have the reception up on that beautiful rooftop so I would be devasated if that day there was multiple weddings and someone got it over me.  Ideally I want to have the cocktail hour on one side of the the terrace and then move over to have dinner and dancing on the other so I am being selfish wanting it all to myself. haha.

We booked the 4:00 time.  I definitely agree about having it a bit early so the whole wedding isnt over so fast.  I have been to the Cancun area numerous times and the sun disapears behind the hotels long before the sun is even close to setting so I really wanted to make sure I got some beach photos with the sun on the water making it that beautiful turquise color.  Once the sun goes away the water looks dark and not as spectacular.  The sun sets around 7:00 in May so I think 4:00 will be enough time to get the ceremony done and pop down for beach photos.

As for room prices I am not sure what it works out too per night because our package price was all included together (rooms/flghts combined).

Our travel agent has booked our wedding group with Sunwing Vacations here in Canada and I have paid a $400 deposit (for bride and groom) to lock in the price for up to 30 guests.  The guests have 60 days to pay their own $200 deposit which confirms their booking.  After that they have until 90 days prior to departure to pay the remainder.  My fiance and I are not paying anything for our guests as it is just not something we are able to do financially on top of paying for a wedding.  Atleast they have nearly an entire year to save up and pay the remainder of the trip which makes things a bit easier I would think.

Our Sunwing quote priced out the packages starting at $1598.00 (canadian) + $190 tax which included a double occupancy resort view room for 7 nights, all inclusive food/drink package, round trip flights calgary to cancun, in country transportation to/from airport.  The ocean view rooms are about 1778+tax i think.

The flight schedules are not out yet so there is a bit of risk that the Sunwing flights might not be too great, but Sunwing has their own airplanes and I am pretty sure all flights are non-stop, so I think we will be okay.

Hi Ladies!! I am also a 2014 bride. I had posted on this thread months ago and wow I went from being undecided to thinking I would get married at the Gran Caribe. Well few months later, we have a wedding date set for July 25, 2014 at the Barcelo Maya Palace in Riviera Maya. We already booked out site visit leaving exactly a year till the wedding. We are hoping to send our STDs after we return. I want to take a nice picture on the beach to put on our STDs. This weekend we went to clean my e-ring and walked out with our bands! I'm also in the process of booking the photographer. We have decided on Ivan Luckie. I'm soo excited that things are starting to fall into place. Can't wait!!

I have 2 children. They will be the only 2 standing up with us at the wedding. I'm thinking my daughter will walk down with my fiance and my son will walk down with me.

Great, idea I think that's beautiful, that they will be standing with you both!

Hi ladies! I'm having a destination wedding at the Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana in April 2014! I have a question for all of the brides that are having a civil ceremony in Punta Cana in 2014.. Is anyone got a confirmation from the civil judge ?? I've made the request since the beginning of January and still no news from the judge! I'm getting really anxious since I'm waiting for that to start my invitations! Is someone elses in the same situation??

I'm getting married in Punta Cana  March 2014. I will let you know a lot of us Punta Cana brides are doing the symbolic ceremony as there is only one judge in the area performing ceremonies for all of the resorts in that area. Symbolic was just easier and the ceremony time is guaranteed. Having a civil ceremony requires you to be flexible on your ceremony time as it depends on when the judge is available.

Oh no!! Fingers crossed that he will be available for the time I requested.... cause we really want to make it official/legal there instead of having to do it before going... thanks for the info!

Ya I managed to get mine for 1475 which is still more than I wanted people to pay but a lot lower than the other quotes I had received. The only problem with early march is that is when march break is for the public schools. Good luck and I hope you get your family to help find lower prices.
Wow this is a good price! I've never seen it that low for the Majestic Colonial. Can I ask you from where are you departing and with which airline company are you booking?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
