Hello everyone! I'm new here, not sure on how all of this works. We're planning on getting married early May/June 2014 in the Dominican Republic and I'm so excited. I just don't even know where to start! It will be a small wedding, and we've already decided on a resort we like. We went to the Majestic Colonial back in 2011 and fell in love with it. I'm not even sure if we could book a date since its still kinda far away.

I am also a 2014 Bride!!! :-)

We are looking at getting married in May/June 2014, in Jamaica!!

I love Jamaica! We actually had a big wedding planned for home, but when we were in Jamaica this past winter I fell in love with it and was envious of all the brides I saw getting married on the beautiful beaches!

So, why be envious when its not too late to change plans! So we cancelled our home wedding, and now we are super looking forward to getting married on a beach with just close friends and family!

We havent decided on resort yet because flight schedules are only released about 12-14 months in advance so I have to hang on until this Winter to book, but I am getting started already!

We have our colours, so we are started on all the little things!

Super excited to have discovered this forum and to be able to share my excitement with my fellow DW brides! :-)

Hi everyone, I'm getting married Easter week 2014...that's the plan anyway. Nothing is booked yet because it's too far out and I don't think I can? We are looking at Jamaica or Punta Cana. I've only been engaged for 5 days so I'm definitely in the very early stages. Because we would like to go away for our wedding Id like to give family and friends lots of time to plan. We would like to get out save the dates as soon as we can book. Looking around for resorts and reviews is overwhelming. I feel like once I can set a location the rest will be more specific and easier. Like everyone I'm looking to stretch my budget as far as possible and get the most I can for the most reasonable price. Looking forward to getting to know you all better.

Hi Stiller,

I have been looking at the Majestic as well. There is a really helpful Facebook site called "Majestic Colonial Brides" . You may know about it already but if not definitely check it out. I haven't made a decision on a location yet but this one is definitely in the running!

Congratulations, Ladies!  You will have tons of time to plan.  Make sure to check out Pinterest and Loverly to collect ideas.  And check out these free wedding web sites.

www.mywedding.com/free-wedding-websites

www.ewedding.com/

www.weddingwire.com/wedding-websites.html

It's a great way to keep costs down and keep your guests informed of you plans, and activities.  Some of these also allow you to post your wedding photos after the event.  You can also find matching invitations for the sites if your really want them.  There's a lot of excellent information on this site so take advantage.  There are also webinars for some of the resorts.

If you're getting married in the Riviera Maya and plan to get married at one of the AIs know that many have policies regarding outside vendors and some of the fees can be quite high.  Make sure to ask so you can budget for it and make sure to get it in writing and have it with you when you come.  Managers can change and so policies can change.

Happy planning!

Jennifer

Im a 2014 Bride... Although Im new to this site, I have been planning since May! We want to get married in May 2014 and looking at Mexico... We are thinking the Grand Sunset Princess but there are so many nice resorts, I dont think we will officially pick until our deposit is placed! We also like the Gran Bahia Principe Akumal.

Im getting frustrated with not being able to get pricing for the trip or for the wedding because its so far away. Anyone here having any luck with it?

I love DIY'ing, but as each day passes, I don't see how I will have time...Which reminds me of something else I've been wondering about: isn't it hard to DIY when you know everything will need to be packed/shipped to your destination?? Any tips/feedback appreciated.

Hello LCB803

I have to point out that if you have a wedding planner for sure you are still good to go for May 2013, planning is fun if you have the right people helping you so far away.  about DIY I must say it is possible, I always advice my brides, have your close family and wedding party help will bringing your DIY down for your destination.

I am already married but we are having our first wedding!!! It is something I have wanted to do the last 14 years and for my birthday he "proposed" and I said Yea Mon. So we are about two weeks in to planning and we have booked a venue Moon Dance Villas in Negril Jamaica, date 02/14/14. Wedding planner and travel agent. Our colors Navy, Vintage Gold and Blush Rose and we are working with a graphic designer to help us make a backwards wedding suite, we are forgoing STDs and sending out detailed invitation suites, we need guests to take action and we didn't feel like a STD said book, now, make payment arrangements while they are manageable exc then we will be doing follow up for those who are making moves to attend. Exactly 500 days to go !!!! Good luck ladies

Joyce you are so right. Building a strong team is priority #1!!! LCB I will be DIYing because I love to craft but anything that is über time sensitive (like having the invites out by 12/1/12) I am gadding getting a team to manage, my motto is Joy not stress, the way I want it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
