Welll... that is a good question! I think I will make the dates the 21st - 24th --- The wedding is on the 22nd so obviously this day will be taken up with the wedding - reception- pictures - after party (thinking about getting fire dancers) I know I will be doing a cocktail hour - just not sure when yet. I am thinking about doing a group excursion ... either one were I buy tickets for everyone.. but I'm afraid some people might not want to do it. so i was also thinking maybe just booking one for us and letting people know if they want to join they can get tickets. I will probably do this for lunch or dinner on the 23rd (just tell everyone where we will be and if they want to join us come at a specific time) -- anything like this I will have planned ahead of time - I just don't know yet. For the most part I don't want to have too many things planned for everyone because I want them to be able to enjoy the trip in whatever way they want. Since it is AI I'm not worried about having to entertain everyone. Sandals includes lots of activities they can take advantage of plus there are tons of things to check out on the island OR they can just take their tumblers to the pool bar and enjoy hahahahaha I do know that I will be giving them welcome bags the day they arrive - wedding bags on the wedding day - and departure bags the day they leave : ) The three nights is actually a Sandals thing... if anyone didn't want to stay three nights I would have just had to pay a little extra for some of the things I will get included because they are all staying three nights. Most everyone is staying longer and noone had an issue with the 3 nights so it worked out well for me :D
I also wanted to have a excursion day. I wanted to do the catamaran cruise as well as the conch shack and froggy atv tour. . Haven't picked one yet. I would like to pay for wedding party if feasible for us and just put in the itinerary all welcome to join.

Yeah, I'm feeling a little bummed---I'm cutting corners everywhere and my budget is still not where it needs to be. :(  One option is to just have everything on the resort, but I truly love my private, off-resort location and I don't want to NOT invite all of my guests! lOL

Brownsugar,

I mean because of all the stuff I'm adding to these damn OOT bags! My friend is having a similar issue with getting married in Jamaica. I guess b/c half of her family is from there, she doesnt want to ask them to pay the resort fee and she's now doing her wedding off the resort and it seems like too much hassle if you ask me! Finding a caterer, she has to stock the bar, decor, etc etc. It's as if she's having the wedding here in NYC!!! I'm happy I don't have to worry about that. It really did come out cheaper to have it on the resort regardless of how many people actually make the trip with us.

Just found out from Cecilia,my WC, that the space I had wanted for my reception is booked by another couple for their reception. I have been asking her about that space for almost 2 months now and never once did she say it was booked until today.

I am devasted. And my back up space is also booked. I told her to add it to the contract multiple times and she never did. I did not want to sign the contract without the proper information in the contract. But she didn't listen. She also hasn't taken out the cocktail hour or added my bonfire like I told her to 3 times already.

is there anything I can do about this? I don't have a reception space! And I do NOT want in on the beach. I AM SO UPSET I WANT TO CRY OR THROW UP OR BOTH!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
