400 i officially finished my invites!!!!! Welcome to the new girl! Forgot to tag your post :) my wedding is well under $10,000....everything ive done for the wedding including my dress invites etc is $5,000. Where are you from??? Cant see since im on my phone!
moody, this is impressive! did you just use a regular printer at home? I'm not very computer savvy, but I would love to DIY if it saves money. I tried to do my own Save the dates. Of course the magnets were from vistaprint but that's bc i had a groupon, so that saved us money and it looked good! plus, i was able to get some return label stickers which helps a lot bc writing things take forever! I just bought carsdstock and envelopes at michaels using coupons of course and printed the other details & stuck the magnets wih zots. Anyway, how did you do the passports? or what material did you use? or computer software? I've see cute passport invites on etsy but not sure what's the going price for one invite like the passport. what do you girls think is reasonable price or how much did u spend on invitations?

I think I might attempt to try to assemble (create) my own invitations if I can keep them in a reasonable price range. I'll just have to employ the help of my FI and SIL.

I think I'd be a little less stressed and worried if I thought I had bridesmaids that were nearby. I'm a transplant to my area so my bridesmaids are ALL OVER. I do have my future SIL who lives right down the block to help. I guess I always imagined that I'd be one of those brides who had the full company of her court to fulfill her every need.... ok ok ok I'm exaggerating just a bit. I guess I'm just learning that everything is not what you see on Bridezilla. ( & yes I know that TV show is a gross over exaggeration) But I think you ladies know what I'm getting at, especially when it comes to Destination wedding planning. It's a whole new ball game.

I need help!!!!

We wanted a small & intimate wedding so we tried and tried to keep it at 25 guests. So we look at Jamaica because my FI being from the Dominican Republic it would be hard to keep it to that #. Fast forward that after hours of conversation with his parents we settled with Punta Cana; with Two major rules. Rule1 is as we are paying for his parents travel they must fly into Punta Cana stay for wedding at resort before heading to their home towns. 2. Family member who cannot afford it cannot come.  I think its fare.  Well as soon as we decided Punta Cana our list went from 25-50 (20 of the guest are his sibling with spouse and kids all local to the island). It being my second wedding I was ok with leaving friends and family out.

Oh well I thought.

We launch our wedding website last week. ONLY to find that some family member forward it to others that were not invited.  We clearly say it on the website in English and in Spanish only a selected amount of people were invited please donâ€t forward information. I donâ€t know what to do? We are not doing an after destination wedding reception.

Like most brides I said yes to the whole destination wedding to keep it simple, but to him itâ€s a full out Wedding affair. His family has no concept on money, saving and planning ahead. Iâ€m about to blow up. All 13 of my guest have put $ down and are ok. His family they think they have until April-May.

Wow so sorry, I am Dominican and my FH is from NY so to avoid this I choose Mexico, I know a lot of my family members will be so UPSET when they find out that I choose a destination other than my home country but when I started doing numbers, it was like 50 ppl from DR along.... Then I know I would have to pay for my grand parents, my aunts and uncles and families which can not afford, or at least pay a day pass for them, I saw numbers climbing and I rapidly backed out of the whole Punta Cana wedding concept.

I wish I had words of wisdom for you, but I know my Dominican people. You invite one person to your child birthday and they will come with the entire family + their political family plus a neighbor. Same applies to a wedding. To Domincans, celebrations are to share and to have fun, they do not think about the cost.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
