We are thrilled to just have close friends and family who wish to come and let it be done. I want to DIY but I'm so afraid but the ladies on this board are AWESOME!

yes, the ladies on this board are totally awesome, we've built such a great bond. I wanted to do diy things, but in the intrest of time, some things i just decided, wasn't worth the headache. by the time i bought alot of the materials, paper, cut, fold, make sure it right font, wording, score it,etc, i was like ohhhh heeeeeeeee...... naw. lol, but i do have a few minor diy things like stamps for my envelopes and doing other little things like labels for my tumblers.  i'm doing a very very very informal  ahr, will be large bbq/seafood boil, and also have jumbo tron lawn screen for us to do movies on green, just let people enjoy themselves in their own element.

Welcome Stef, and congrats! Do you have a month picked?

Dw planning is more stressing than I imagined it to be but this board is great. We laugh vent scream hereto let out our frustration. Also help each other with ideas thoughts and opinions.

DIY tough indeed im so not crafty. Trying to do invitations on my own now but don't no how great that's gonna be..That being said we do have talented ladies who are more than willing to help.

Are you doing OOT bags. The girls are obsessing with those. Warning the shopping peer pressure beware. .lol

We also want to do AHR but only if we come up with a reasonable priced event. Have some elder family on b oth sides who are pushing it since they won't be joining us. We would like to show the video and pictures

tyrebride, i know you tryna say i make everyone shop? lol, but i promise i am probably the most thrifty and cost conscience  person in this thread. primarily be cause i don't have the financial means some of these other brides have. i can promise you, my wedding is under 10k promise. i decided to do oot bags but only for my wedding party because they can get very expensive, and doing gift bags with party favors for guest. dollar tree, has been my saving grace , ebay, etsy, supergiftplace to just name a few.

I'm still debating on if i should have a bridal shower. Part of me wants one because 'it's tradition' but I'm just not sure how I feel about that. I mean I am asking people to travel a million miles away for my wedding. I'm just trying to figure this all out. It's alot of decisions.

i'm not worried about a bridal shower at all. it's enought for me that people are willing to travel to be a part of our special day so the shower i can forego

I never knew there were so many things that you could DIY. I'm not creative at all.. but in the event of saving money, I'm surely going to try.

Uh huh...no expensive at home reception for me! We're talking hors d'oeuvres at the most---no fancy sit down dinner.

Well, my budget is a bit more $10K, but I still claim the title of second thriftiest bride on this thread! I promise you that in spite of being engaged since the end of January, I have not bought a single bridal favor, decoration, or gift! The only thing I've purchased (other than vendor deposits) is one or two magazines and entry to one bridal show.  I got my friend to design my STDs and printed them out at Staples (paid for with a visa gift card). I hope to get a relative to do the invitations! LOL  My wedding dress was a sample from the bridal store and I won a bridal headpiece.  If I do a veil, my mom will either make it or I'll buy it from Light in the Box.   I'm purposely being cheap because I am scared I'll start buying stuff and then have to throw it away if it doesn't fit in with my theme (which is still kinda up in the air).

well 10k wasn't my budget, just have stayed under it. gotmy dress from davids bridal for 199.00 and it's only one left like it in entire chain,  since girls got  their dresses there i got  some 20.00 shutterfly gift cards(that's how i did my save the dates) the one thing i did pay for was my invitations, i honestly just didn't want to do them at all. haven't gotten bridal gifts/favors, but i did do oot bags for wedding party only. and bought wedding week survival kits from another bride here on bdw(they were already predone in my colors) with 11 items in each. so that save me a ton of money. ordered my bridal comb from ebay and ordered a rhinestone headband from etsy.(not sure how i want to wear my hair yet)

*bowing down to thriftiest and most budget savvy bride*  People were excited to get my save the dates (especially the ones who didn't know I was getting married--LOL) but I too, wish I didn't have to pay for invitations.  The ones I like are way out of my budget, and I'm not about to splurge on something that people are likely going to throw away.  I was excited to DIY with my friend, but now all I can think of is the work! LOL

i agree things can get out of hand, so what i did was sent save the dates to most, since that was exciting enough for them, my invitations i'm only sending to those people that i know either will be attending or elderly , health not allowing them to attend, so that it can be a momento for them. that's why i only got  40 invitations and they were costly, but well worth it, i got the passport invitations i wanted in my colors, shimmering paper, stamps throughtout passport, boarding pass rsvp, etc and they were like  250.00 but i wanted them and since i'd saved so much on other things, i decided to let that be my one splurge.

My big splurges are on photography and food/drink so I'm trying to cut back in other areas.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
