Hi Guys!!:cheer2: I'm stefani and I'm really happy to be here. I've been lurking around for about a week or so. I am in the process of setting a date and I want to get familiar with you all. So I'm just dropping in to say HEY!  I see I have quite a bit of reading to catch up on. Stef

Welcome, and OMG, good luck catching up, that is going to take you months.  About the registry, I do not have one, I believe is more than enough if people can change their vacation plans to be with us, or plan their vacation around or wedding. Wedding presents are supposed to be what it will cost you per plate at your wedding so since its not the case, I really don't see it as something I should have.
I don't have registry either. Omg. Catching up is hard to do. But I'll be happy to help anyway I can

Hey Shugapop1

Yes I have decided on the destination, Mexico! My FI and I have employed the help of a TA and she sent us several packages to different islands. We had some specific requests, one of which was there needed to be direct flights from JFK. So, we have narrowed it down to Dreams Riviera and Moon Palace. We've stayed at dreams in DR before and LVOED it, but from the reviews and all the pictures I've seen, I'm HEAD OVER HEELS in love with MP. So we are waiting to hear back on our requests for dates for MP.

I'm still debating on if i should have a bridal shower. Part of me wants one because 'it's tradition' but I'm just not sure how I feel about that. I mean I am asking people to travel a million miles away for my wedding. I'm just trying to figure this all out. It's alot of decisions.

One of my family members is throwing me a bridal shower.  Since I plan to have an at home reception for those people who can't attend my wedding (or those that I couldn't invite), I think it'll be okay.  I totally get where you're coming from, but I just want to celebrate with loved ones as much as possible.  It's possible that I'll be eating those words by the end of this though!

LOL... I haven't even considered the possibility of doing an AHR because it's just so expensive. Speaking of expensive... I've decided I'm going to DIM Do it Myself... everything! I never knew there were so many things that you could DIY. I'm not creative at all.. but in the event of saving money, I'm surely going to try.

I agree! I wasn't so sure about the bridal shower but my Big Sis, and my Matron of Honor is NOT hearing it! She and my best friend think that I am absolutely crazy for not wanting one. I didn't feel right doing one either since we are asking people to pay to come, but they say everyone expects a shower and people who can't come may want to do something anyway. They are not backing down so I just conceded that one battle.

I thought I was the only person who thought AHRs were too expensive. My fiance said one of the big reasons we are doing a DW is to keep down on costs and the guest list that kept expanding beyond control. For us and our situation, we didn't see the difference in doing a wedding at home and doing a AHR, besides being married on the beach at that point lol. We are thrilled to just have close friends and family who wish to come and let it be done. I want to DIY but I'm so afraid but the ladies on this board are AWESOME!

Welcome Stef, and congrats! Do you have a month picked? Dw planning is more stressing than I imagined it to be but this board is great. We laugh vent scream hereto let out our frustration. Also help each other with ideas thoughts and opinions. DIY tough indeed im so not crafty. Trying to do invitations on my own now but don't no how great that's gonna be..That being said we do have talented ladies who are more than willing to help. Are you doing OOT bags. The girls are obsessing with those. Warning the shopping peer pressure beware. .lol We also want to do AHR but only if we come up with a reasonable priced event. Have some elder family on b oth sides who are pushing it since they won't be joining us. We would like to show the video and pictures

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
