Hello, I am new here and at the beginning stages. I am looking into April of 2014, have not booked anything yet just been lurking the site cry.gif. It seems like everything is out of our price range, I am looking for a small boutique hotel in the playa del carmen or Tulum area, and a wedding planner that is reasonable, will work with our budget but also make our wedding beautiful!!

Congratulations happywife! I will be an April 2014 bride (need to change my signature) in Rivera Maya.  I really like my wedding planner that I've been working with thus far, Joyce Mnguni of Dream Weddings. She posts on BDW and is very helpful.  You also definitely want to find a good travel agent who also has knowledge of boutique hotels with the feel and price range that you are looking for.  I hope this helps!

P.S. If you give us some idea of what you want each guest to pay (e.g. no more than $1500 per person), that might help generate some ideas.  This board really is incredibly helpful.

Hi Brownsugar, Congratulations to you as well! what date are you thinking? also, do you mind sending me a private message on your wedding planner. I have not set a budget per person ( which I should) A lot of our guests are families of 4-5 so I dont want anything to steep for them.  We are planning to do a site visit but have not establised when yet. Also, when are you sending the save the dates, I feel like I need to hurry up and do so.

Just a little run down on us we are already married will be married for 5 years by the time we have the wedding, but we never had a big reception just court and went home.. LOL we have attempted to plan a wedding 3 times, and something always came up where we had to cancel. ( once I even had to throw out invites). So I am hoping this one is the charm, we really want to have a big celebration, and some sort of religious ceremony!

As for OOT bags... I think I need an intervention!   Maybe we should all start a support group HAHa - of course we would need to find someone who isn't addicted to help ; P

Welcome!   You but you may want to almost work backwards before you fall in love with a place that just isn't reasonable, which was the very first thing I did only to realize my guests would've been paying $4K minimum for 5 days.

After that mini hiccup I decided the max I wanted my guests to spend per person then went from there. I did a lot of research to find a beautiful place that would still be affordable for our guests. I also researched airfare which is why I'm getting married 2/7 and not later in Feb like I originally wanted, when the airfare was much higher.  My resort has great reviews and the pictures are gorgeous, it also accepts kids and for those with real little ones it didn't impact the room rate (all things I researched and had quoted out too).  My wedding planner has been so hopeful and responsive but my resort is definitely not boutique style so it probably wouldn't be of interest to you, but someone on here may have some really good suggestions for you.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
