I TOTALLY agree with you about warm, beach, tropical drinks!  And I never noticed that you are in Boston - Me too : )

Technically I live in Somerville, I used to live in the Seaport near the World Trade Center, but I still say Boston because it's easier. Where are you??  Since you're a fellow Bostonian I know you understand the joy of escaping the cold especially after all the snow this winter!

I'm just down the road in Arlington!  Everyone has heard of Boston so I usually use that for everything : )

And yes I think Winter is the best time to go on a tropical vacation!!  What's up with this weather lately?!? Oh wait - its New England "Hi I must be new to town" HAHAHA

Nice to meet ya neighbor : )

Oh I defiantly get wanting your own children there!!  I don't have any so I guess it was less of a must for me. I guess because we just want a fun family time for the wedding children are okay with us..however if we were planning for home only our own children would have been allowed. . They had dark brown, black, dark blue, white and grey for men's flip flops.   I was so undecided on the colors. I ended up getting a mix of brown, blue, and black.   I was able to get 10 pairs (only need 9) so I grabbed one pair of white as well. I didn't particularly like the grey ones - the white ones were kind of my favorite but I am having everyone wear white to the wedding and I didn't want them to think I was saying they MUST wear those.... Oy.. I just don't know LOL
Atleast you have a variety. .are you going to put in oot bags or have a flip flop station? I was thinking if having guest wear a certain color as well but not sure now.
I looked into Beaches-Turcs and Caicos but it was way to expensive (in my opinion). Since I'm getting married in February it's prime traveling time and I couldn't ask my guests to spend $3-$4K for 4 nights, well I could but I'm pretty sure instead of having 45-50 people I'd have about 4 haha.  I tried to be conscious of the fact that our friends and family have a wide array of income, my FI and I are in a better place then most but we have two incomes, no kids and are in our early 30's.  Plus we didn't want to pay to much for the wedding/stay because we're doing a 13 night honeymoon after our wedding!!! Yes I think Cancun will be nice, I haven't been to the resort I'm getting married at but I've been to that area several times and my sister used to have a time share there. As far as I'm concerned if it's warm, there is a beach and tropical drinks in February it's way better than being home in Boston!
Turks is a lot more expensive than some other islands however I did give guest 2 yrs of notice if our intentions of having a turks wedding. All that will be able to join us we are delighted to have those who are unable will be missed but it is what we want! 13 days is amazing wish we had that long. Where will honeymoon be? You are so correct warm..tropical drinks and beach we are all lucky will be fabulous:-)

Just to make things worse, today I decided to call my travel agent to talk to her about the resort and the rooms so that I can get my invitations made and guess what? It looks like I HAVE NO travel agent! No wonder I sent an email 3 weeks ago and NEVER got an answer. I am beyond angry. Apple Vacation didn't bother to inform me, or get me a new travel agent or anything!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called and I got a machine. They are going to get a piece of my mind because that is bad customer service!! I should have been informed that the TA quit or left or anything and got replaced ASAP. This is something I am not suppose to be stressing about. I am not a happy camper.

Eww - that super sucks!!  I hope you are able to get everything worked out : (

Sorry Jessica,

I must say I have been emailing my TA none stop. We understand each other now and its a great feeling. Have you tried a WTA?

I am sending out 90 invitations and expecting 40-50 people. The cost did deter some of my guests but I also gave them the option of booking their own trip if my rates weren't good enough

Shara:  One of the ways that I pitched a DW to my FH is that we could save money by having the wedding and the honeymoon in one locale.  We will definitely move to another resort, but will try to stay in the Riviera Maya area.

P.S. I have entered a number of honeymoon contests, so if we win one of them, all bets are off!

Giving your guest 2 years to plan and save is more than enough time.  I'm only having a 9 month engagement so I'm not leaving people very long to save/plan and book but we've been together over 3.5 years and didn't want to wait so we tried to find a place we loved that was economical, specifically for my FI family who doesn't travel, his Mom has never even been on a plane!!

I can't wait for our honeymoon! We're spending 1 night in FL then going on a 12 day cruise to Central America, South America and the Caribbeanwoot.gif

We are doing a separate honeymoon.  Originally we were going to fly to another part of Mexico but then we decided to do a cruise, so after 5 days in Mexico I'm going to FL then on a 12 cruise to Central America, South America and the Caribbean.  We had thought about doing one a month or two later but it saved on airfare to do it right away, my poor doggies though, I feel so bad leaving them for that long (even if they are staying with family)!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
