I missed it this year and am so pissed wanted to stack up for the wedding and possibly put in OOT bags since wedding is in May my loss..

Oh that's too bad!   I was able to get enough for the guys but none for the girls.  I figured they will go on clearance at some point so maybe I will have some luck doing random stops at Old Navys to try to get enough.  Maybe that would work for you too?  It could be pretty time consuming if you have a lot to get I guess - hahah

I had a hard time picking the color(s) I wanted for the guys.  If you are able to find them what color would you get?

I actually was looked at Turks at first... I have always wanted to go there.  I changed my mind about having my wedding there because it is a Beaches.

All you girls are so nice picking places that are family friendly to accommodate your guest!!  I have a few couples with kids.  I really wasn't sure what kind of response I was going to get when  I told them Adults Only.  I am very lucky that I got a very positive response from all the parents!  They actually all Thanked me for "making" them go on an awesome vacation without their kids.

Yes, this is true the website is pretty good you can plan everything.  I love being able to see all my choices especially since I was unable to do a site visit.

I have my own children so although, I do want family friendly for my guests it is more so for my own children.  Wouldn't dream of having my wedding without them being there.

yes, I will have to just stock up during the year..  I'm not sure what color I would get for the guys,  but probably the tan or grey. maybe even black.

Well, I haven't sent out the invites yet however we have a few people who have booked from the STD's we sent out roughly 150 give or take a few more or less, we sent to the same as we would have if it was an at home wedding even though we knew most wouldn't make it.  We didn't want to exclude anyone.  When I send out the invites it will be to the same people.

We have had many complaints about cost and inconvenience however, I'm learning to deal with it.  We gave people more than enough time to save up and to get time off in advance.  We notified friends and family of the destination wedding even before booking so in total it would be about 2yrs advance notice.

I think that is a great way of honoring your grandfather by having your wedding on his birthday since he can't be there physically.  You should keep your date and she should understand she does have enough time to come up with a few days off.   Rayn Drop I wanted a Sandals resort as well.  We had to choose beaches instead due to the children being allowed.  St. Lucia was my first choice and then Turks & Caicos my 2nd.  I have never been to St. Lucia just seems so amazing! that's a must on my list supposed to go back to turks for 1 yr anniversary but maybe I can get a trip there in between. (already planning a wedding anniversary before the wedding ha ha ha)   No I have not been to Beaches/Sandals before have you?   Great!!! So which day are you going with the Wednesday?
Hi Tyrebird and Raynedrop, I decided to go with the 12th and compromised. That's a Saturday but at least it's not August! :)

Great if that's the date you want. . You can include your grandfather by haviing his picture in your bouquet or something similar. Im still trying to include FH's mom i was thinking of doing her picture somewhere or a tribute in program.

Oh I defiantly get wanting your own children there!!  I don't have any so I guess it was less of a must for me.

They had dark brown, black, dark blue, white and grey for men's flip flops.   I was so undecided on the colors. I ended up getting a mix of brown, blue, and black.   I was able to get 10 pairs (only need 9) so I grabbed one pair of white as well.

I didn't particularly like the grey ones - the white ones were kind of my favorite but I am having everyone wear white to the wedding and I didn't want them to think I was saying they MUST wear those.... Oy.. I just don't know LOL

Well I am glad that you were able to come up with a decent compromise : )

Its actually funny because I wanted the 12th as my date and couldn't have it - resulting in me having to pick a different day - which happens to be a Wed.

I promise to enjoy my Wed. if you promise to enjoy your 12th ; ) LOL

Did you look into Beaches?  I have never been to a Sandals or Beaches but I would assume that Beaches are just as nice.  I actually was looking at Turks and Cacos - but then I realized it was a Beaches there and I wanted an adults only location.

Either way - Cancun I'm sure is going to be awesome!  I wouldn't understand anyone having a bad time!

I looked into Beaches-Turcs and Caicos but it was way to expensive (in my opinion). Since I'm getting married in February it's prime traveling time and I couldn't ask my guests to spend $3-$4K for 4 nights, well I could but I'm pretty sure instead of having 45-50 people I'd have about 4 haha.  I tried to be conscious of the fact that our friends and family have a wide array of income, my FI and I are in a better place then most but we have two incomes, no kids and are in our early 30's.  Plus we didn't want to pay to much for the wedding/stay because we're doing a 13 night honeymoon after our wedding!!!

Yes I think Cancun will be nice, I haven't been to the resort I'm getting married at but I've been to that area several times and my sister used to have a time share there. As far as I'm concerned if it's warm, there is a beach and tropical drinks in February it's way better than being home in Boston!

I haven't had my wedding so I don't know personally but based on other people who I know who have had DW, people that are close to you will come but your "2nd tier" of friends and extended family generally don't. Although I also think it depends on people's financial situations and how large your immediate family is.

My fiance wanted to invite more people but when I realized the per person cost after we exceeded the # included in our package, the cost of cocktail hour and open bar per person, etc I told him we needed to keep it small. He wanted the DW and one of the major reasons I agreed was to save money. I would have gladly had a larger DW if we had the money to pay for it but we're saving for a house and I knew it had to be one or the other.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
