I am planning on booking Sandals Halcyon Beach Resort . . .    if I can pull myself away from this thread - I'll call and book it tonight LOL

Oooooooohh!  I just noticed where your wedding is going to be.  Very nice - that was a close runner up for me.  Turks & Caicos is on my MUST go to list!

Have you been to a Beaches and/or Sandals before?

Hi Rayndrop! Yes you are right. That was my question. I wanted to know if it would be easier on them if it were a weekend. I really wanted to right back ummm I'm sorry August was not any of the options. Anyway, I think I'm just going to stick with Saturday July 12th. That's a compromise. I didn't do the 5th bc of airfare, I'm not doing the 9th bc it's the middle of the week so if the 12th is a problem then REALLY...don't come.

Wishing you the best of luck on your Wednesday wedding! Just one question: do you get a better deal on the weekday? (I might have to reconsider if you tell me yes lol)

Would it make me a bad person if I tell you Yes it was a better deal because it was a weekday (even though I don't know if it was)  hahah So that you can have the date you want.

I can't really recall actually - I probably looked months ago because I originally wanted the 12th - which happens to be a Sunday (not why I wanted it - I just LOVE the date 10.12.14) - I had to change the date because they don't do Sunday weddings in St. Lucia (not sure if that is a whole island thing or just a Sandals thing) but since I was totally unwilling to compromise on my location I settled on the next best date - which to me is the 22 which just happens to be on a Wednesday.

I am lucky that everyone actually likes that I picked a middle of the week date - they are all planning on making a week (or more) trip out of this so they thought it would be great to spend the time they want on the island without having to leave the day after the wedding.

It might be worth asking the resort/venue if they have week day discounts.  At least then you can tell everyone "I picked that date to help you out with saving some money!"  hehe

Haha yeah it is about time - although I must admit that I'm pretty sure we would have done this a long time ago if it wasn't for me... I've kind of always said I didn't know if I would ever get married... not for a lack of loving my Fiance ... its just never been high on my list of things to do!  What types of things are you putting in your Welcome Bags... more so anything really unique?   Not that I need any more ideas in my head about things to add - I have gone totally over board and still have a loooooooong time to keep adding stuff... but still I'm interested ; ) I will search back to try to find your pics. : )

It's funny you say that! People think I'm crazy when I say " we would have been married , but I dunno I like playing this house thing" . Lol! I too had not really spent too much time thinking of marriage. I guess I figured some day when I grow up ( I'm 34) hahaha. Yet here I am planning a destination wedding that's growing by the second. 0)

Happy to Help!!

I hope it is less expensive for you - Keep me posted.

That is awesome you spoke to your cuz and she is on board - That is the way it should be!!!

Yeah I kind of assumed it was a St. Lucia thing... I didn't actually ask - I was holding back the tears!!  They said I could go to Jamaica instead - and have the date I wanted....   That just didn't sound like a dream to me.

I've never even been to St. Lucia but it just feels like the only place I wanna marry at ..

: )

I totally get you!!

We just had our 6 year anniversary ... we moved in together after 6 months but that was always just good enough for me...  I'm sure the words "I' don't think I'll ever get married"  have come out of my mouth...

We aren't really "officially" engaged yet...  I say that not because I don't have a ring yet but because I want a real gushy admission of his ever dieing love.

This is how it happened .... a random convo about marriage comes up by other people we are having dinner with.... everyone leaves the room.. He looks at me and says, in a doubtful tone "Did you wanna get married?"  to which I quickly turned my head to him and said very seriously "How drunk are you?!?!"   HHHAHA

it is actually very perfectly us to be honest - but even I have an inner princess that needs to be thrown a stone every now and then (no pun intended) AND I want a ring ; )

Oh and btw -  I'll be 34 in August and I was just thinking to myself yesterday "What the hell am I going to do with all my time once this is over"  Manly because I am sooo obsessed with my Welcome Bags.  Actually, addicted to them might be accurate. haha  What has age done to us!?!?!?  cheesy.gif

Oh sorry, I forgot to include that! I had planned for 60 at the maximum.  At this rate, FH and I will be eloping! LOL
That's so crappy!! I'm dealing with a similar situation and when I got bummed, I was ready to call it all off. Then I just got sadder n sadder til FI came home from work and told me we would make my dream wedding a reality. I know how it feels to be set n excited for the "perfect" venue. Maybe talk w FI n get his take on things? It can mean a lot to know he's behind you. Mine even called the resort on 2 separate occasions and told them it was critical to his safety that they get in touch with me. Lol.

You aren't going to be able to please everyone... part of my Dad's responds was "October is that great for me because of my dead lines"  (He publishes a coupon magazine and had pretty strict deadlines) to which I replied "That's why I'm telling you a Year and Half ahead of time... if its that big of a deal .. then don't go" With a year (or more advanced notice) I think she could find a sub for the few days she is gone... no? I actually am not even sure my sisters will be coming to my wedding as they are both college students and didn't seem to understand that they can plan around school for an occasion like this... to which I say.. oh well I know that my all sound a tad harsh - but It is Our Day and I will have an awesome wedding even if I am the only one there ; )  Well I guess it would be better if the Fiance was there too LOL Half of the couples coming to my wedding have children (ages 1 - 14) and they all said Thanks for the far notice so we know we will have time to save and plan (including childcare options) I guess my opinion is - although you asked.. it sounds like you asked if a mid week wedding was okay, not if another month was better and if so which one....  I'd be annoyed and do what works best for me! : ) P.S.  I am also planning a Wednesday Wedding - I didn't know it was good luck.... thanks for the tip
Excellent advice! I've opened my big mouth about a November 2014 wedding in Cabo since we got engaged 2 months ago. That's a year n a half!! If anyone can't manage to get their butts in gear to share your special day on that kind of time frame... Well, maybe they're not the people you should be worried about having by your side. We've been courteous in giving AMPLE notice. The rest is up to them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
