60 is a good number.... we have limited our invites to parents, siblings and each of our best friends (and of course every ones other halves)   There were some bumps in the road last week that had me frustrated to which my Fiance responded with " Forget everyone - You & Me in Monaco sounds great right about now!"

It actually sounded like a Wonderful idea ; )

If it's just the two of you.. Maybe St. Lucia is doable... hahah

Hi Lori, I have my heart set on July 12th (my moms bday) and right now I'm thinking Barcelo Maya Palace too. My concerns are: Is July too hot for outdoor reception? If not, is strawberry package too expensive? Are there any resorts that might be a better fit for us? Am I waiting too darn long and should I hurry up and book?!!! Can you tell me why you chose Barcelo? I have been seeing Now Jade on this forum a lot and wondering if I should look into them. Congratulations on fellow July 2014 bride!!!!!!!
Hello Borgesn, Totally understand your concerns, picking the resort has by far been the hardest part. One our #1 must haves was an all inclusive family friendly resort. The appearance of the beach also had a lot to do with our decision. Based on reviews and pictures we found that Riviera Maya had the best beaches. We decided on Barcelo for various reasons: - we were going to have a catholic ceremony and they have a chapel in the resort (now we aren't and their gazebo for symbolic ceremony is amazing) - Overall reviews on the hotel/weddings at the Barcelo have been very good as well and the pictures look amazing. i also met someone who got married there and highly recommended it. - My fiancé and I aren't too worried about the weather (it's paradise it's suppose to be hot lol) - I must admit their packages are "alright" and we decided the best one for now is the mint breeze but that may change. Even though it has an indoor reception I think I can deal with that and I will get to wear heels! -last but not least the rates were pretty good since I don't want my guests spending no more than $1300 I don't think it's too late to book since we are still a year out. My date is on hold right now until I book my stay. This has me a little worried because I won't be able to book until August since flights for July 2014 aren't out yet. They hold your date for 2 months and I reserved back in March. I'm actually waiting to hear back from the WC to make sure my date is still on hold. When searching for resorts I just knew this was "the one". I hope you find yours! Hope this helped, Good luck :)

Hi Borgesn,

I am a fellow Barcelo Bride. I'm getting married at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe in Punta Cana, DR. I chose Barcelo simply because I've stayed at other resorts and not many compare to the Barcelo chain. The grounds are kept clean, maintained, the ambience is wonderful. It's always a great time. I regretably stayed at the GR Solaris in Cancun and wished I had stayed at a Barcelo. You have to make the right decision for you. If you are looking for a place where your guests are going to feel welcome and have a great time, Barcelo has a wonderful animation team.

Miss Jali-

They JUST announced the new fee, which I can't help but think has something to do with the fact that they are becoming more and more popular. *sigh*

Thank you so much! Your advice definitely helps! Did you book a photographer? If you don't mind, how many days is it for under $1300. My goal is to book a resort by this weekend before I lose my marbles! Lol

I haven't booked the photographer yet. I'm going on a site visit next month and I want to confirm everything first before I book the photographer. I can tell you how much I paid to go this July for 4 days it was $1098.

Thanks for the welcome MissJali!  Congrats to you too!  Thanks super exciting that you sent out your invites.

I totally understand about the planning/shopping frenzy.. I can't stop buying things.

I'm kind of not really even engaged yet LOL - we have been together for 6 years (as of a few days ago) and back in October we a small convo about getting married... ever since then I have been planning and shopping!     We told everyone that is invited in April and will be sending the STDs in July - I then will be sending little surprises to everyone every three months up to two weeks before then wedding.   I'm so obsessed with all these things I hope everyone appreciates them.

Do you have pictures of you invites?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
