I was lost as to what to do for invites and save the dates and how much time i should give for out destination wedding.  I ended up sending the invites and STD's together 1 year in advanced because anyone wanting to come needed to out a deposit down within 60 days.  So next week is the deadline for deposits.  Im getting stressed because everyone is waiting till the late minute.  I guess I will know more next week.  I have lots of people saying they are coming so we shall see if everyone waits till the very last day!

Hi Jinele,

I have been working with destinationweddings.com, and I started with them because my fiance's sister originally used them for her wedding. As a guest in her wedding, they were wonderful and I enjoyed my experience. So when I got engaged and we decided on a destinaiton wedding I knew I would use destinationweddings.com. So far it's ok. Like Cherina posted they do not help you with planning, that was my mistake. They did give me suggesstions on resorts in Jamaica, but I had to do a lot of my own research and reach out. My TA, has not been getting back to me as soon as I like, but I am trying to just go with it for now. If it really get's to me I will ask for another TA, but so far, I have not complaints regarding destinaitonsweddings.com. My fiance's sister also loved her experience with them, I hope that helps!

(I guess that's a good thing). My TA says the final payments must be made 70 days before we leave, which falls in December 2013 of this year.

I'm thinking of sending these invites out by April/May and having an RSVP date of December? Is that too much time in between that pple would forget to book or rsvp? Should I make people RSVP before their payments are paid in full? HELP!!!cheesy.gif

I sent my STD's about 3 weeks ago, so about a year in advance. (They included a magnet, a short letter explaining our DW, and a stamped postcard. The postcard was for people to request what event they would like a formal invitation for: our wedding in Mexico, our Denver at home reception, or both. I stressed that it was not an RSVP at all, just a way to help us plan our events. We sent out about 75, and to date we've only received 11. Not too good of a response so far.) I'll send out our Mexico invitation 6-7 months before and ask for an RSVP by 4 months before. Our Denver AHR will be in March or April 2014, so I'll send that invite in January/February.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
