Question to my 2014 brides...I'm actually going to my first dress shopping trip this weekend. I've seen some beautiful veils on ebay for less than $20, was going to make my own but figured I can save the hassle by just ordering it from ebay. Is it too soon or should I snatch up the deal?

I personally would like to see the veils in person.  There are so many shades of white and off-whites.  It's hard to match with your dress color.  I will pick out my dress first then veils later.

Hi carajoe08

I'm in NJ too. What were the prices for beach venues in NJ? I know it's expensive here so I didn't even bother looking at venues in NJ. I thought about the Poconos though, and found some decent prices.

Hi KerriAnn5,

I know I'm a few months late but just wanted to mention that I stayed at the Dreams Punta Cana and I would not recommend a wedding there. It's not bad or anything, it's just not great. There are more beautiful resorts, and the beach isn't the greatest. The beach has a lot of debris and the sand isn't soft, the water isn't clear, and there are a lot of rocks in the water so you can't go out very far. I can't speak to the wedding services...they could very well be awesome. But when I recommend DR, I always recommend hotels in Bavaro beach because the sand is close to white, the water is clear blue, and there are also a lot more water activities available there.

If you already went on your site visit, I'm sure I'll read it somewhere in the thread. If not, let us know how it goes!

We are choosing between Punta Cana and Mayan Riviera/Cancun. The only thing we have decided is the time of year and a couple different destinations... Any ideas or advice would be great! Also, thinking luggage tags for STDs:) Thanks 2014 brides! We want to choose the destination/resort by march and that's when we will send STDs, and invitations August??

Let me tell you...it's a labor of love. I didn't realize how time consuming it would be. I plan on doing the invitations soon after. (I'm a grad student and am on break til Feb.) Since I plan to send the invites out as early as June, think it's time to get started on those too. Congrats to all of us 2014 brides!!!

Hi MissJali,

We are getting married at the same resort..you're a little over a month before me :)

I'm also a grad student and am on break until Feb. Not that I have time, I got the planning bug, since I don't have class or studying to do!

We are hoping for April 14, 2014. From what I have heard, I think we will start to look for a TA feb/mar and just get some quotes on different resorts in a couple different destinations and then just pick one and send out save the dates! I think a year in advance is plenty of time:) Did you guys pick a date, or destination? We got engaged in cancun at the crown paradise club. Loved the resort however we also have nothing to compare to;)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
