Let down again

I know that I have told you guys the situation with my dad. The thing that sucks is that my mom is pretty unreliable too. We get along so well when we are together, but I never know when she is going to come through. It seems like everytime we have plans, something comes up. We were supposed to spend today together. We had a ton of wedding stuff to get done today. Only, nobody had heard from her since Friday morning. I talked to her BF last night, he said he is getting pissed. She does this all time. She just disappears for days at a time. I asked him how he puts up with it, and he said because I love her. I'm really worried about her. I don't know what she is doing, or where she is. I'm angry too, because I tired of this always happening.

Brittney, that is terrible, I am so sorry. This is none of my business but does she have some sort of mental disease? The whole dissapearing thing is really odd.

My fi's parents a really unreliable and he has said multiple times that he is really happy to be with me because I am his family now. So think about your FI as your family and know that he will not let you down.

There are a couple red flags for me. When I was 5 years old, she tried to commit suicide. She is probably still depressed. Then about 5 years ago she was doing cocaine. We found it everywhere. Everytime she pulls a stunt like this, which is pretty frequently these days, it makes me think she is doing drugs again.

I have tried to talk to her, but she just pretends like nothing happened. Or she says there's some huge explanation that she can't get into. Somehow it's always somebody else's fault. If I bring up drugs, she gets so angry. I don't really know how to get through to her.

Aww, I'm sorry.

The behavior does sounds suspicious, and if she gets really defensive about any mention of drugs, that only increases it.

I've only taken one course on Substance Abuse in my counseling program, but all the things I've read in your posts here fit the typical behavior. sad.gif

I don't know what to say though except I hope she's safe and you hear from her soon. It's always really hurtful when your parents let you down.

I'm so sorry about this! I spend 2 of 5 work days dealing solely with addicts in treatment and your mom fits all the signs of a relapse. The best thing for her (and hardest for you) is to get her into a treatment program. Sounds like you won't be able to get her to do a voluntary inpatient program, but maybe she'll agree to outpatient? If not an intervention might be necessary.

This is so hard. She has a disease and it needs to be treated. If you need any info on how the process works let me know and I'll try to find out.

She sent me a text about 20 minutes ago. She said that she wanted to replan our day, but she needed some time to put things in perspective. I am not sure where she is or when she is planning on coming home. I'm worried, but I am glad I heard from her.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
