Hi,

My fiance and I are planning our wedding in St Thomas, USVI. I've heard that it may be smart to hire a wedding consultant or coordinator to take care of the marriage license, courthouse, etc. Any ideas? Or places on the island to have our wedding ceremony? Im also looking for a beach wedding dresss and I'm having the hardest time! Arghhhh

Welcome Danielle.

There are a ton of options, I am sure you can do a search on the forums on here for ideas.  There are some really nice Villa's that allow weddings, a few restaurants, and of course the Chain Hotels (ritz-carlton, marriott etc..).  Janelle from Island Bliss seems to be the most popularily reviewed wedding planner on this site. My Fiance and I actually booked with her.  Her blog is pretty helpful for ideas.

We are getting married In St. Thomas October 3rd 2012 and using Janelle from Island Bliss Weddings. We are not having any guests, but our friends do know we are getting married. She has been great so far. We are traveling via cruise ship, and she is taking care of everything else. We are getting married at Brewer's Bay.

Where are you getting married Jerz?

Hello,

I'm new to this website.  I am also getting married in St. Thomas, US VI, but I have a ways to go.  The wedding won't be until May 2014.  I'm excited and I've been doing a lot of research over the last week on destination weddings.  I'm definitely hiring a wedding coordinator.  I don't want the stress of trying to do it on my own.  I would appreciate any input you ladies can provide.

I am getting married May 2013 at the Sugar Bay resort in St Thomas.  I used beach bum vacations to handle all the travel arrangements for the wedding and our honeymoon.  I am working with the hotel wedding coordinator to plan the ceremony.  I liked the wedding packages available.  everything is included, so you don't need to talk to a bunch of different vendors.  We are also going to have the marriage license done here at home before we go.  I don't think that it is hard to get the license in St Thomas, we just don't want to waste a day going to the court house, we are only going for 4 nights so I would rather do fun activities.  I have heard that the cabs can be expensive.  It would cost us $40 just to get to the court house.  I just got my dress from J Crew.  They have a lot of nice dresses that work on the beach.  They are not very formal, but are still really nice.  This is the dress I am wearing:

@@Cerisem I did not realize that you could obtain your license prior to leaving the states. Can you explain this to me? Do you have to bring proof of license with you to the islands?

Thanks!

@@USVIBride Our wedding is May 2014 too!!! We are staying at Marriott St Thomas and getting married on Trunk Bay in St John on May 6th.

Where are you staying?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
