Riu Palace Mexico vs. Riu Palace Riviera Maya??

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

My fiance and I have just about decided to go with the Riu Palace Mexico (although not booked yet) and there doesn't seem to be a lot of posts on that hotel on this website.  I did see that there are quite a few posts and brides getting married at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya and I'm wondering if any of you who chose Riu Riviera Maya hotel also considered the Riu Mexico and if so what made you go with Riu Riviera Maya?

Thanks for your help!

I am getting married on July 28th at the Riu Cancun right next door to the Palace.  They have the same WC and everything, so if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask!

Hi Jamie

So I think you're talking about the Riu Palace Las Americas which is in Cancun but we're thinking of getting married in Playa Del Carmen. I'm sure (I hope) most of the Riu's are similar, have you had an easy time communicating with your wedding coordinator down there? I'm working with someone from Destination Weddings who has been great, she's just requesting the wedding kit for us now so I'm interested to see the pricing for things like a cocktail hour and all the fun extras.

Any advice is welcome, I am a little overwhelmed but I'm sure it will all come together in the end.

Thanks!

Oh yes,  I was referring to the Riu Palace Las Americas, so many Rius lol. From the start I have had a very easy time communicating with my WC.  I have never had to wait more than 48 hour for a reply in fact usually I had a response same day!  I asked her for the price listing of the extras for cocktail hours etc, and she sent it right over!  I was also very overwhelmed, but now we leave in 4 days and I am very relax, and ready to go!  Everything comes together in the end!

Hi Kard613,

I am getting married at the Riu Palace Mexico in February 2013.  I know exactly what you mean that it's difficult to find wedding related information about this resort.  I will pass on any wedding information that I receive from them for you.

Hello Ladies,

One of the members in our team was formerly the Weddings Manager at the RIU, so if you need any help or advise, don't hesitate to PM me ;)

Most of our weddings have taken place at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya which is very similar to the Riu Palace Mexico only a little newer and therefore more popular.

Know that the on-site wedding coordinators organize between 2 - 5 weddings per day and therefore are not always available to reply to your concerns in a timely matter unless your wedding is 1 - 2  months away.

They'll be happy to provide you with a price list and tons of information as your date approaches, just have to be a little bit patient and leave all the details to the very end.

In the meantime, feel free to check out our most recent RIU Palace Wedding Stories for ideas and inspiration:

Happy Planning!!

Thanks everyone for your help! Mel anything you can pass on would be great! I know they are closing the Riu Mexico for renovations this winter so I'm excited to see what they're going to go with it .

I confirmed my date of 6/27/13 yesterday and am working with someone from destination weddings and will likely start booking rooms mid-end of August. Now the fun stuff starts!

HI, to whom it may concern,

My niece is getting married at the Riu Palace Mexico.  My entire family is staying at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya.  I was told if we stay at the the RPRM we can also go to the RPM.  My next questions are:

A: should there be any additional costs for us to go to the wedding being we are not staying at that particular Riu property

B: she is having a meal so what will the additional costs be fore my family of six *6* to come (realizing meals can vary in price,,,what would the price range be per person being highest cost to lowest cost)

C: Reason for asking these questions is I think she is having a hard time with costs so I would like to pay for our familes meals being we are told they will be extra since we are staying at a different hotel.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
