Honeymoon After Destination Wedding

Recommended Posts

Hello Fellow Brides, I am in the midst of planning my destination wedding in Jamaica and was thinking about Honeymoon. Wondering if we should do one, or just extend our stay in Jamaica. I mean where do you celebrate a honeymoon after having your wedding at a honeymoon destination? Anyone have any plans for honeymoon?

We are spending a week there with family and friends for our wedding. I wanted a honeymoon on top of it. We looked into staying a second week, (upgrading to a different resort) but the prices they wanted to extend our stay was insane (almost $6000). So we decided to have a honeymoon and spend that money to go somewhere new. We are coming home for a month, then heading to Italy for 3 weeks. We are having a Honeymoon Registry (instead of gifts) so that any guest that want to buy gifts for us, can just donate money to that.

But yeah, I  wanted a honeymoon... I won't get any time alone with my Husband during that wedding week.

i Did a destination wedding in Vegas- stayed there for 5 days. My hubby and I pretty much had zero alone time, which is how we wanted it though -- to spend with family and friends. we went home for a day to repack and then left to negril jamaica for a honeymoon for 8 days. It was a lot of traveling, and during it all we began to regret, but once we were there, omgoodness it was the best time of our lives! no regrets

We are getting married Honeymooning at a different resort.  The day after the wedding we will take the shuttle to the other side of the island for a private honeymoon.  We figured we might as well take advantage of being on the island.

That was what I wanted to do, but I couldn't talk the FI into it! LOL

We will be getting to the resort on Tuesday, guests will be coming in on Wednesday, wedding will be Friday, guests will be leaving on Sunday and then we will stay at the resort for an additional week. So we will have time with our guests and we will also have time alone after the wedding.

I'm doing the same as well. We will be at the resort 2 days before the wedding spending time with our guests and then afterwards we will be moving to an adults only AI. I have already scheduled our dinner on the beach and Couples massage. My FI was against it but somebody did it as a gift for us so it will be a surprise to him!

I wanted to give my guest the option of staying at the resort longer  (since they are already paying the airfare).  So some guest are staying a few days after the wedding.  We still wanted the privacy is a honeymoon so we opted to go to an adult only resort for the Honeymoon!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
