Should I change my dress color?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I found my dress, but now I'm doubting the color and I'm starting to freak out. This is the Mori Lee #1664 satin in Candlelight. It looks more champagne on me in one photo and it looks more ivory in the next. It does have more of a pink tone as the ivory had too much yellow and I didn't like that. I really didn't even notice it was a different color until I saw it next to a bunch of other dresses in my dressing room. I had originally planned on my groom wearing a white linen short sleeve shirt, but I think it won't "match" me now. He doesn't like ivory and says its "too yellow". He is driving me insane and I wish he would cooperate with ivory, but looks like that isnt going to happen.  The sample they had in store was only the candlelight.

So should I keep the color I have:

or possibly try to change it to white. Here is a bride (NOT ME) in the dress in the white color. moriwhite.jpg

I would go for the white, personally. The ivory does look a bit too much against your skin, which is funny because for most of us it is the total opposite!

On the other hand, lighting in salons is AWFUL! I would ask if you could walk outside for just a minute (YES, they do this at some salons and give you a little hand mirror to take) and will go outside with you so you can see what the color *really* looks like.

Thank you!!! I just changed it to white. I would rather have it be white than stand out from my groom and I figured it would look even darker on the beach at sunset.

I agree with asking to see the dress in the sunlight.  Since you'll be getting married outside, that's really important.  Perhaps bring a white shirt along and compare them.

My husband wore a white shirt with my champagne dress and I don't think it looks bad.

This is a picture that my mom took during our trash the dress session (so in NO WAY is it professional, but it shows you my dress color compared to his white shirt)

Yes, keep in mind that your ivory / "candlelight" dress will probably look much brighter under sunlight.  Also keep in mind that for the most part, men do not know or care about the difference between white, off-white, ivory, etc.  Maybe your fiancé is different, but I know that I could hand mine a shirt in any shade of white or ivory and he'd call them all "white".  :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
