Arrrgh! Going NUTS Over Photography!

I have TONS of time before my wedding..BUT not tons of time to find a decent photographer. I've talked to a handful and they are already booking for '09 ofcourse.

I'm looking for mid price range. I'm not one who can afford to spend thousands on pictures no matter how precious or timeless they are. I agree with all that, but I'm a realist and a realist with four toddlers to boot. Two grand and under is my budget. But most of the photogs I've come up with (Google is my new best friend) have good prices, but staged-cheesy photos, OR skyscrapeer prices and beautiful photos. No, I'm not suprised by this...just frustrated. I know this complaint has been posted time and time again (but not by me, so please let me slide)

We're having a simple religious ceremony, but still shooting for elegance. Its a VERY small resort (only 115 rooms) with a reportedly breathtaking beach. We're getting married in the beach chapel which is all cute and quaint...no formal reception since we're saving that for back home and will just do cake cutting/hors deurves and a few champagne toasts before letting our guest go and enjoy the rest of their stay. My FH is determined that we start spending time alone asap after the ceremony to enjoy whats left of our trip.

We need two hours TOPS. Are there ANY ladies who spent UNDER two thousand for photography, but are happy with their photos?

I haven't been married yet but we are using Michael Maurus as our photographer. The package we are going for comes in right under $2000 I believe but that is for 5 hours which seems like more than what you are looking for. I believe he travels to Tulum too (we are getting married in Cancun). Check out his link and PM me if you'd like the pricing info.

Good luck!

If you only need a photographer for two hours I'm sure you'll be able to find one in your price range. There is another link on here with a list of photographers that you could check out. The ones I have contacted all replied pretty quickly and I only looked at local photographers since we could not afford to pay for the travel and the photo package.

They used Vanessa Vargas. I'm currently talking to her to try to hire her for my wedding. Her prices are well under $2000 & she does great work.

I felt the same way at first. I want good pictures, but can not spend $3000+ on them. At first I thought my only option was to stick to the cheap but cheesy hotel photographer. Now I know there are lots of great, affordable options in the area.

I need to see if I can get a price list from Claudia Rodriguez and crew. I've studied that web site til my eyes are ready to cross and I think I'd have a request as to who did my pics if she wasn't able to do them herself.

Thanks for all the help again...and if anyone else has any suggestions, I'm more than willing to investigate.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
