Congratulations to all of you! I JUST booked my wedding for NOV 17, 2013 (<--- yes, this year!!!!) at Moon Palace in Riviera Maya/Cancun.

I'm full of excitement and of course stress!!!!
We have to do a totally last-minute wedding due to family illness and I've taken the plunge.
Friends of ours are memebers of the Palace and Hard Rock resorts, so we booked our group through them.

Anyway - I need to set up a destination wedding website ASAP. Any recommendations?

I'm going shopping for a dress tomorrow (rush delivery please!).

What else do I need todo right away?

Any tips advice you can offer are much appreciated. Let's see of I can pull this off! I'm know as an amazing hostess and throw unforgettable parties. I want ,y wedding to be grand, and with this deadline, we'll see what happens!

Thanks!!!

Oh wow, that is so exciting and totally crazy! Maybe I can help? I live down here in Playa Del Carmen (about 30 mins from Moon Palace) and I have been renting some of my decor from our May wedding to brides at an affordable price. PM your email if you're interested in seeing a price list and photos of what I have for rent! Best of luck to you my dear, and don't stress - you got this. :)

Great to hear you are happy with the Karisma chain.   Azul Sensatori is a finalist.  I just really dislike their low-celiing, apartment-complex-party-room-look ballroom.  I'm having my reception indoors, for climate control and a bit more glamour.

lost and stuck with zero time to spare :((

Oh wow. What a bummer about Moon Palace. I will say this: November is total conference season for them, so it is entirely pos things did get booked that fast. I know we ran into that issue when booking our dates. You can still gets lots of benefits without the membership though. It goes based on room nights.

Some thoughts based on our site visits:

Azul Sensatori - GORGEOUS property, total money suck! They only use one vendor for EVERYTHING and we felt totally nickle-and-dimed during our meeting, which is why we didn't book. Also, for a "gourmet" resort, our taste test at a TOTALLY empty restaurant took three hours. And they totally botched every course. We specified vegan, no cheese, and get cheese and shrimp. Plus there are LOTS of rules about who can be in what room - read the trip advisor reviews. Not so hot experiences by multiple brides.

Now Jade - I have stayed there before. It's a 3 star I believe. The food sucked. And my luggage got totally ransacked upon checkout. The person that took it from our room obviously went looking for money. Not great, especially for a wedding scenario.....

We really like the Dreams resort, it just didn't have enough space for us. The staff there was probably the most knowledgable about various ethnic/religious wedding needs, and the property is really nice.

The hotels in the Hotel Zone all have great beaches, but they tend to be very small and tall hotels, with limited options. The beaches run one into the other, and the pool areas were really crowded.

If you still wanted to go the Palace Route.....

Beach Palace - too small for us, and the rooftop ceremony option was only accessible by stairs - not cool for anyone old or with mobility issues. Or too high heels. But there were a few options of ceremony locations.

PlayaCar Palace - LOVED this place. LOVE LOVE Playa del Carmen, but again, it was too small a property for us. Great space though. Same Palace Resort benefits.

Best of luck and hang in there. Maybe consider a destination wedding planner, or at least a great travel agent at this point.....

In November it shouldn't be too warm, especially at night.

Now Jade has lots of great indoor options for receptions.  The bamboo room is beautiful!

Hi Dina,

Somehow I had the NOW resorts (Jade & Saphire) off my list.  Maybe I thought they did not accept kids or something. Website looks good.  I will call them tomorrow!

With a group of at least 80 guests, and the desire to have multiple private events (specially cocktail hour and private reception on wedding day), this option might get pricey.  We'll see what they have to say.

Thanks for the tip.

Hope your planning is coming along well.

As for the update on our to-do lists, I feel like I'm really behind now. Work has gotten extremely crazy for me and I have to work 7 days a week for over a month. I hope I can get wedding stuff done at night. Here's what I have left to do:

- music playlist (why must I keep putting this off?)

- white shirt and shoes for my hubby to be

- pre-wedding flyer for guests with schedule for wedding and activities to do on and off the resort

- order reception decor

- finish the last few napkins I was making (we had 10 people decide to come in the last month which changed my numbers)

- buy makeup and hair extensions

- wedding night lingerie (anyone have recommendations of good places to shop?)

- finish vows

- order MIL thank you gift for the wedding

- make up a wedding day schedule

- purchase items for wedding day emergency kit

- order my getting ready robe

- take dancing lessons (hubby to be would like to learn to dance for me - seriously, how sweet is that and I've never even brought it up!)

- decide whether to have welcome dinner or wedding rehearsal dinner and organize it at the resort

I hope everyone's doing good with their planning. I can't believe we're only a month away from November!

Just over a month left till we depart...I've crossed out alot of major things in my list since my last "to-do" list so for that, i'm happy.  Now i have smaller things to worry about:

- buy make up and any hair accessories i will be wearing

- buy my bra

- buy me some flat sandals in white (HARD to do in the middle of fall in Canada :-)

 - put our song list in order on a USB

- put together OOT bags ...which are ready finally

- buy groomsmen gifts and parents gifts

- hubby to be still has to get his suit "fitted" which takes a couple days.

i'm getting so excited as the days pass but stress myself over what i could be missing.....

I think this week i will start packing....I know....so early right? but I have to because whatever I am buying and have to take should be thrown in a luggage and not in my closet where it could get LOST! lol

ahhh good luck november brides :) the time has gone by so quickly!

Hello November Brides,

I cant believe Im about a month and a week away from leaving!  The time has gone by so fast girls.  Im feeling like Im somewhat on track but still have some things to do.

-Finish the barefoot sandals for female guests-  still need 5 to do

-Get intimate wear for under dress as well as honeymoon

-Complete our reception playlist for DJ

-Finish small projects (tags for pashminas, place personalized labels on fans, place stickers on some of the last minute items purchased for OOT Bags)

-BIG ITEM- my dress still isnt in but once it comes in I need to get fitted for wedding dress

-get fitted for second dress(reception dress)

-bridal party personalized gifts

-need to take back hubby's ring for resizing(purchased too big)

-Pick up my wedding band- lost ticket the store gave me which is why I have been putting this off!... EEKKKK

-Get flower girl shoes/sandals (my daughters)

-pick hair style for myself and the 2 flower girls

-Vows

Ok so looking at this list it still looks like I have some stuff to do... i plan to get alot done this week. I hope.... ???

Is everyone putting their OOT bags together here?  I want to begin packing next week sometime once I have all the small projects completed to just get things out of the way and also to see if I am going to need more luggages.  Is everyone packing their wedding stuff in luggages or bringing down in a seperate box?  How are you guys bringing your stuff down?  I feel like I have a lot to bring down...

Well Good Luck to everyone with their last bit of planning!!! :D

I am wondering this myself.  Ideally, I'd like to give our guests their OOT bags when we check in at airport...but I'm sure they will have their own carry ons and i'd be adding to their stuff...and besides, i got nail clippers and bottles of aloe vera and lotion in the oot bags and i'm pretty sure it's not allowed on as a carry on.  So i think i will just have to put them all in one luggage and assemble everything at the hotel...hopefully the luggage handlers are nice and wont BREAK MY STUFF!! lol I hope that everything fits.

Good luck to you...you do have quite the list! But i'm sure you will get it all done in time :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
