Who gets flowers at the ceremony?

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies!

So I'm looking into booking a florist ASAP. When I submitted the quote form, I realized there were SO many questions that I did not have the answers to! I know the standard "who gets flowers" regarding the wedding party and parents. So, what about the other important people in our family that aren't a part of our party? I could really use some advice here, b/c I don't know what the etiquette would be. I read some websites that all conflict with one another. Here are the people I'm considering:

Definites:

-Wedding Party

-Me & my Groom

-Fathers & Mothers

-Flower Girl, Ring Bearer

Maybe:

-Aunts/Uncles

-Brothers, Sister-in-Law

-Cousins that we're very close with [their daughter is our flower girl/goddaughter]

-Godparents

-Officiant

Thanks for your help!!

I honestly don't think aunts/uncles, cousins, and godparents need flowers. I don't think I've ever been to a wedding where they had flowers unless they were in the wedding party. As for the officiant, if it's someone you don't know and the resort is just providing that person, you probably don't need one for him/her either. But if you're having someone you know officiate the wedding, I would get him/her one so that he/she stands out.

Just my opinion. Ultimately, it's your big day and I'm sure whatever you do will be just fine :)

We aren't having a wedding party, so I got 3 corsages - one for my mother, his mother, and his sister (she's special needs, and will just love being a part of our big day - she adores her brother/my FI).

I got 4 bouts - my father, his father, his step father and my brother (and one for the groom of course). My brother will walk my mom down the aisle, and his step father will walk his mother/sister down, so this immediate family is our "wedding party".

hope that helps!

Good question!

Does the groomsmen & parents of bride and groom HAVE to wear bouts and corsages? Would it look weird if they don't? I'm not a huge flower person and wouldn't mind saving the money on this part lol.

Great! I'm glad I'm not the only one! I think I'll be leaving out the bouts as well!

I really think it comes down to what you want, it's your wedding after all! But, i feel like if I do flowers for the wedding party [which I'll definitely be doing] I should extend it to others. I just don't know LOL So many what-ifs in the small details =)

I plan to do boughets for my five bridesmaids and I. The groom and groomsmen will all wear boutineirres. I will also have additional boutineirres for father, grandfather, and brothers. And corsages for the moms and grandmas. It gets expensive, but looks great, and makes them feel special!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
