I am having a Sikh wedding at the Moon Palace in June 2014. I hired a wedding planner here (Vancouver) who is arranging everything for my wedding and with the wedding coordinator at MP. As for the baba, he brings 2 other people with him to perform the Kirtan and the wedding as well as the Guru Granth Sahib and anything else needed but you have to provide the gifts you would normally give to a gurdwaras for a wedding. I am still finding out if they provide ramaals. You generally pay a package price and it includes 3 people's flights and accommodations for 1 night only. They perform so many destination weddings now so you should try to book it ASAP. My wedding planner had a hard time getting ahold of him but always ask to speak directly to him and then they will email you a contract you must sign and give a deposit. If anyone is looking for a mehndi person I have the Henna Lounge is the best. They have a website and provide all the details on there. I'm still waiting to find out who the MP provides as they have an "Indian wedding package" now that includes that. When I was looking for what resort to book, it seemed as if MP was the most accommodating for how many functions Sikh weddings have. I get unlimited private functions with no extra cost and they will set everything up everyday. The only extra money we have to pay is per table for the reception but then we are also getting a $2500 credit to use for our reception in which we only pay taxes. If anyone needs any help feel free to message me. I have been intensely planning every single thing. My wedding is going to be 80-100 people!

Hi Ladies!

My wedding is in about 5 weeks at the Moon Palace as well. We booked Blue Petal Destination Weddings in Vancouver to help us with the preparations. The company was perfect for our needs, because they assigned us to a travel agent who got us a great rate and took care of all the bookings (over 160 people!!) and they also assigned us to a wedding planner who has been communicating with the MP resort planner to arrange all the details for us. In terms of the baba ji, I heard the Mexico City people were really reliable etc and know a few people who have booked them, but when we tried to book them we couldn't get a hold of them (I think they went to India or something). We ended up booking someone we know from Vancouver, and are flying down the Granthi, Kirtan person and tabla player. The trio will be bringing all their own supplies and also offered to bring the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, but we decided to borrow the SGGS from the Mexico people instead (They keep it in Cancun at some yoga center). As for ramaals, etc, - I am taking my own for all the men.

Just like one of the other brides above, I am also getting the daily free events (free food, drinks, tables, chairs, napkins cutlery) - basically the resort agreed to do a private event for us each day, for a max of 3 hours. I think they give this to anyone who has a combined booking for 75 room nights or something like that. The free events are great but dont include any decor, music, etc so we have to rent all that - and their rental rates are very expensive, and so are things like flowers, henna, etc. The resort credits are definitely helpful though so that part is good :)

Hope that helps!

Hello Ladies!

First of all, congrats to all of you on your big days!! I know how exciting it can all be, I had a Sikh and Hindu destination wedding myself a few years ago in Mexico. During my experience I learnt a lot with regards to resorts, vendors, costs, etc and have become a destination wedding specialist!

There are a lot of wedding planners out there and are all very helpful. I am Canadian and I specialise in destination weddings to get you all the information you are searching for, that seems nearly impossible to find and most importantly get you the BEST RATES/DEALS.

I charge a very low fee for my services (weddings can already be so costly!) but I still provide the FULL wedding planner experience starting from travel arrangements right down to your invitations, vendors and making sure your day goes perfectly.

It's truly a passion of mine and I would love to help other brides have an extravagant wedding while at the same time cutting some major costs.

Please contact me at [email protected] if you have any questions

XOXO

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
