Any Melia Caribe Brides November 2012 ???

Recommended Posts

I have booked our wedding for Nov at the Melia (garden gazebo location)...our reception will be at the Jellyfish right after. Just wondering if anyone else is there at the same time or close to it...I'd love to hear how your planning is going!

I have been planning since the beginning of the year but still have lots to do. I don't even have a final head count yet...sigh. Right now I'm working on oot bags until I have my numbers in. So far we have 30 booked and still some slow pokes that need to get on it. My guess is we will have about 40?

Who do you have for a WC? And what has your experience been like so far with them? I understand they are busy and replies can take a bit...I just find it hard to get my questions answered sometimes. ie qualifying for the "free' wedding. I am opting for the "free" wedding because we are doing the reception at Jellyfish(don't want to pay much for just a chair at the ceremony) The has been some confusion as to whether or not we'd qualify. My WC said as long as we booked a certain room category - which we want  a royal master 1bdrm, we would qualify.  BUT my travel agent thought that we would NOT qualify as we booked as a group with a group rate. I assume most brides do secure a "group rate" and I hardly feel it was a big enough discount to count as a hotel promotion. Does anyone else have any input on this? Between my agent and WC I feel as though I'm talking in circles lol.

It's been little frustrating so far and I haven't even had alot of contact this far such as all the little details. But, I'm sure they are busy and there's always going to be hiccups... They (melia) have been very friendly- I just have found "communication" a bit of a challenge. The whole reason I decided on a destination wedding was for it to be stress free and just about reaching our end goal- getting married lol. So, I'm trying to remember this and not sweat the small stuff. I love the garden gazebo( I fell in love with it when we first got engaged 5 years ago) I've looked at several hotels but kept going back to this one. There are good and bad reviews on every resort... I think a lot of the basis for the reviews has to do with the individuals attitude/expectations. While I do tend to have high expectations, I also just want a stress free memorable wedding with those I love most- I fully expect a few little bumps on the road getting there. Congrats and good luck planning!!! Let me know if you decide on Melia!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
