Thank you so much for your very thorough review of the resort and your wedding.

Congratulations!

We have booked our wedding for May 2015 and I'm having a hard time finding current pictures of weddings at this resort. There are a ton of the Riu Palace Riviera Maya!

I am wondering of you would be able to share any photos you have of your set up for the ceremony and the reception.

I originally thought I wanted the beach but I have read a lot of reviews that seem to indicate that the resort guests on the beach feel they need to cozy up to the bride and groom in their bathing suites which just isn't my scene.

Even if you could point me in the direction of a website that would feature this resort that would be great as well.

Thanks for your help!

Thank you for sharing such good information. I am getting married there in September. I have a few questions. Why did you have to pay the set up fee when it's included in the package? I am getting married at 2pm but wish I was doing it later. The beach wedding that you saw-, how long was the isle you walk down? I'm curious of I need to shorten my songs or if the WC will do that? So for your music at the reception, they had a pretty good playlist? I am freaking out thinking I am forgetting the basics. I would love your input!!

Hi @@Lynsey92714, I'm getting married at neighbouring RPRM and I hope I can help somehow. Which package did you pick by the way? I think the set up fee has to be paid if the wedding coordinators have to set up your personal items for you. Items such as: chair sashes, centrepieces, etc. I believe you can avoid the fee if you have someone from your guests doing the set up. Unless you are having a private reception...If so then I believe it is mandatory to pay for the set up fee.

The aisle, according to pictures on Google, seems pretty short. I don't know too much about shortening songs.

Music during the reception is not allowed...unless you are having a private reception.

Thanks for responding. I plan on doing a private reception. When is your wedding? I guess I was confused if I use their decorations, etc I figured they would be setting all that up for me in my pAckage price. I think we are going with the caprice due to the amount of people we have coming. What about you? Are you bringing your own decorations?

What sort of decorations are you looking for?

My wedding is in December. We only have 28 guests and after calculating the price, we found that it is cheaper to go with the free package and then add guests to the package. I am planning to bring down my own centrepieces and some decorations...and then get one of my BMs to help with decorating to save some money. Lol

We are planning to have semi-private reception since we don't want to pay for a private reception and we don't have enough people to meet the min. threshold for private.

I was debating on using the semi private as well since it's already included and will cut down big time in costs. What are you doing for your reception that's after dinner? Even if we rented the beach and did cocktails only it's $20 bucks a person plus site fee

We haven't decided yet. I'm not sure if the prices are the same since our wedding is in RPRM and your wedding is in RPCSL. RPRM & RPM is charging $30 per person for cocktail at the bar.

How was it getting married on the beach?  I know its not private. Was that awkward? Did you have any problems? did you have to walk past the pool to get there?

where did they hold the reception?

we just stayed at riu palace riviera maya but didnt see any weddings while there. i liked RM for a vacation but id be nervous having my ceremony while they do a belly flop contest at the pool behind me. Mexico seems calmer and prettier.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
